LA Lakers are looking to make a strong playoff push once their center forward, Anthony Davis, marks his return.
Evidently, Lakers are hanging by a thread at the moment. After a terrible initial season, the team is finding their groove back as the season reaches its mid-stage. However, will that be enough for the club to make it to the playoff stage? Only time will tell. For now, the Lakers are back in the business with five consecutive wins. Moreover, the wins have come in without Anthony Davis’s presence on the court.
Their center forward Anthony Davis was playing as the second-highest point scorer for the team before he injured his foot. While facing Denver Nuggets, AD injured his foot in the very first quarter of the game. Since then, he has been missing in action. On top of that, it’s been more than three weeks since the incident happened. In the meantime, the Lakers stepped out on the court 12 times and won 7. Moreover, a recent report from Bleachers Report claims that the Lakers are confident of a playoff push and are optimistic about Davis’s return.
Lakers Banking On Anthony Davis For a “Playoff Push”
Anthony Davis has been MIA for three weeks. However, in his absence, the Lakers are finding their original form back. Having LeBron James leading the lineup, a significant assist from Thomas Bryant and Dennis Schroder has helped the Lakers register five consecutive wins. With this, the Lakers are back in a contest for the playoffs. But, the goal seems far-fetched for now. But AD’s return can turn things around remarkably for the club.
However, inside reports from the Lakers state that the club is optimistic about an assured playoff push as Anthony Davis could return soon. Chris Haynes of Bleachers Report published in his report that the Lakers are happy with Thomas Bryant stepping up in AD’s absence. Moreover, the club looks confident of doing even better than now once their center forward, Anthony Davis, makes his way back onto the court. However, the club issued no official news on AD’s exact return date.
“The Lakers are optimistic that they’ll be even better once whole and poised for a playoff push,” wrote Chris Haynes.
AD Recovering Well, Takes His First Steps On Court
In positive news, Chris Haynes reported on Bleachers Report that Anthony Davis is recovering well and feels much less pain than before. Moreover, he has been cleared to participate in training drills to test the condition of his foot. Once the tests are done, a green signal to join the remaining roaster will be given by the medical team.
Earlier, Lakers head coach, Darvin Ham, confirmed reports of AD’s recovery going well according to the plan. He said that they are optimistic about his returning earlier than expected before. However, no official date has been set by the club as of now. On the other hand, the offseason is approaching. The Lakers are expected to make a few trades which could further increase their playoff chances. Currently, the LA Lakers stands 11th on the Western Conference points table with 19-21.
