Anthony Davis Explains Why The Lakers Are Falling?
In December 2022, Los Angeles Lakers started facing another storm when their top player, Anthony Davis, faced a severe foot injury. After the analysis, it was revealed that AD is out not just for weeks but for months. Now, the entire weight of leading the squad is on King James’ shoulders. Looks like the 18-time MVP is trying his best to keep his head up. However, he is unable to keep up with the rivals. As per AD, keeping aside the dominant game, the Los Angeles Lakers are at risk of missing the playoffs for a second consecutive year. The team is struggling to keep their match score above .500. Apparently, the Lakers are crawling behind some wins only to find themselves ahead of more losses. And the main reason for the team’s poor play, according to Anthony Davis, is its Defense.
Davis pointed out that the Lakers’ main struggle is defense. The team gave away almost as many as 130 points in three games, which is highly unlikely for the squad. He even felt that the rivals are using different strategies and succeeding because of his absence from the defense. “Me being the anchor of the defense and guys thinking like, ‘Okay, Anthony Davis in on the back line,’ which allows us to do different schemes defensively when I’m on the floor,” claimed the Brow. All this while, he was clear on one front that the Lakers are still good in the offense, scoring to win the games. However, the team just hasn’t been defending, and that’s where the struggles have been.
Currently, chances are bleak for the Los Angeles Lakers making to the Playoffs. The team desperately needs to fight Minnesota Timberwolves & Oklahoma City Thunder to reserve the last seat of the playoffs from the Western Conference.
