YES Broadcasters Lists New York Yankees’ Shortcomings Ahead Of The Opening Day

As the 2023 MLB season opening day closes in, YES broadcasters have raised a few concerns over New York Yankees campaign.

The New York Yankees are preparing for the brand new MLB season as they play their season opener today against age-old rivals, San Francisco Giants. The team worked hard in the off-season as well as in the recently concluded spring training to get back into form and rhythm. However, how far the team can go this season remains to be seen.

Nonetheless, it’s way too early to discuss the odds of the Yankees winning the World Series title this year. This is because the lineup is fresh, with many alterations and changes at the top and in the rotation. But, a few underlying and obvious concerns cannot be overlooked. Moreover, a couple of YES Network analysts listed those concerns more broadly for us. So let’s dive right into it.

As the New York Yankees prepare for the opening day of the 2023 season, YES Network broadcasters and analysts highlighted the team’s shortcomings and areas of concern. One of the biggest issues facing the Yankees is their starting pitching rotation. With injuries and inconsistencies plaguing the team’s top starters, the Yankees will have to rely on a number of inexperienced pitchers to carry the load. This could unfold as a major weakness for the team, especially against strong offensive opponents. Both Nelson and Todd agreed to the same.

Moving on, Todd Frazier listed a few more areas of concern. According to Todd, the team lacks a good finisher who can exert pressure on the opposition during crucial stages of the game. He said when the team is lagging, for example, by 5-2, you need someone who could squeeze in some extra runs and close the game for the team. Further, Todd stated that these little things hurt the Yankees big time in the latter half of the season. Overall, the duo is highlighting the Yankees’ strengths and weaknesses ahead of the opening day. While the team has a number of talented players, they will need to address their pitching concerns if they hope to make a deep playoff run.

As the 2023 MLB season gets underway, YES Network analysts are predicting which teams will be the top contenders in the American League East division. The east division remains one of the toughest groups in MLB, with some highly aggressive teams competing for the ultimate title. Last season, the New York Yankees emerged at the top with record 99 wins. So will they retain the title in 2023?

Well, MLB analyst Jeff Nelson believes so. He said the east division would come down to two teams, the Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays. The better team on that given day is likely to clinch the title. On the other hand, Todd Frazier feels it will be close content. As per Todd’s understanding, the healthier team towards the last end of the season will win the AL-East title.
