The New York Yankees are currently struggling to find a consistent winning streak that will lead them in the AL East points table. Right now, they are in the fourth position in the east, just above their mighty rivals, the Boston Red Sox. According to the fans, the Bombers are struggling with injuries. All the crucial players on the roster, like Josh Donaldson, Giancarlo Stanton, Lou Trivino, Oswald Peraza, and more, have been on the Injured list for some time. On top of that, the most anticipated newcomer of the bullpen, Carlos Rodon, hasn’t made his season debut for the Yankees because of his back strain.
However, avid fans of the New York Yankees franchise blame skipper Aaron Boone for not utilizing the players and their caliber as he should have. Time and again, when the team loose games or the series, they strike Boone for his strategic errors or his line-up decision as the cause for the same. Many times, the Bombers fans have ignited “Fire Boone” chants in the stadium to display their discontent toward the manager. And finally, the Yankees’ owner Hal Steinbrenner has come out to discuss Aaron Boone and his stay with the team. Keep reading to know what the owner says about his team’s manager.
Hal Steinbrenner Reveals How And When He Will Fire Yankees Skipper Aaron Boone
Till now, there were some points where manager Aaron Boone’s strategies have not worked as he had expected. However, there were a lot of times as well, when his crucial decisions led to the New York Yankees’ success. Despite that, the fans have always blamed the skipper for the team’s apparent slump. Hence, referring to the fans’ displeasure, the owner of the Bombers franchise, Hal Steinbrenner, has finally revealed when and how he will fire Aaron Boone from the squad.
While appearing for his first podcast, “The Show” with Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman, Steinbrenner stated that for him, one of the most important things is that Boone has the respect of the players. The owner believes that the entire bullpen wants to play for him, and they want to win for him. And if he sees that going away someday, then Hal will start making some changes in the management.
Apparently, Hal has also talked about the same to Captain Aaron Judge, and according to him, the fans have the wrong perception of the skipper and the players. The avid Yankees’ followers believe that the roster doesn’t want to continue with Aaron Boone. However, what Judge told the owner is completely opposite. Steinbrenner added that he likes how Boone integrates analytics and clear-cut common sense. He even listens to the bench coach and brings things to balance.
“They do want to play for him. They want to win for him, and they respect them. I think he’s a good leader of the players. He’s a good communicator,” Hal Steinbrenner praised skipper Aaron Boone.
So, what is it? Why do fans don’t like New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone?
