The New York Yankees appointed Aaron Judge as the 16th captain of the franchise a day after they renewed the slugger contract. Aaron threatened to leave the Bombers for the Giants after his contract expired at the end of the 2022 season. However, the Yanks convinced the slugger to an extension. Thus, Aaron Judge agreed to sign a nine-year contract with the Yankees for a whooping payroll of $360 million.

Yankees slugger and captain Aaron Judge earned his first most valuable player (MVP) award during a Baseball Writers Association function. The slugger beat three significant competitors and emerged as the highest vote gainers. The honor comes as a result of an excellent 2022 season. Judge broke the record of hitting the most number of home runs in a single MLB season by scoring his 62nd homer against the Texas Rangers. Moreover, the slugger also set new records for RBIs and batting averages.

Hence, as a reward, Aaron Judge became the recipient of the prestigious honor. Fans and critics are overjoyed to see Aaron holding that magical award. Meanwhile, Yankees pitcher and Aaron’s teammate, Jonathan Loáisiga, gave a reaction while celebrating the slugger’s latest feat. The New York Yankees’ Twitter handle posted a picture of Aaron holding the MVP plate. To this, Jonathan Loáisiga commented, saying along with being the most valuable player, Aaron Judge is the most valuable human as well.

Keeping all the personal glory aside, Aaron Judge has a bigger challenge waiting for him in the 2023 MLB season. FYI, the New York Yankees last won a World Series title in 2009. On top of that, now that Aaron is named the captain of the team, the responsibility to carry the team to the finish line falls on his shoulder. Furthermore, the slugger will have to take care of his teammates as well while being at his personal best.

The 2023 MLB season will begin in March. The off-season has almost come to an end, and spring training will begin shortly. Speaking of the New York Yankees, the bullpen is filled with notable names.
