Isiah Kiner-Falefa, the New York Yankees infielder turned utility player, played a miscue during the team’s 2-3 loss against the Cleveland Guardians.

The New York Yankees have a troubling history of failed trade deals. Last year, they made multiple deals during the mid-season, which ended up rather damaging the unit. One such trade that frustrated the fans to the core was Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The infielder arrived from Texas Rangers in a package deal to take up the shortstop responsibility.

However, Isiah failed the task and moved down to the second base. Since then, the fans have demanded his ouster. But for some reason, the Yankees see some potential in the infielder who transformed into a utility player during spring training. He made the desperate move to fit into the team as trade rumors laid around his shoulders. However, his recent miscue on the plate is not helping Isiah’s case anymore.

The New York Yankees faced Cleveland Guardians on Monday in the first matchup of the series. Isiah Kiner-Falefa started at third base as a replacement for an injured Josh Donaldson. However, his time on the plate has met with harsh criticism. During the second innings, the infielder registered his first hit of the season and took a single to the first base. Further, he stole the second base, and Gelyber’s walk on the first invited Aaron Judge to the plate. However, Isiah’s moment of joy was short-lived.

Aaron Judge, the Yankees’ formidable hitter, was poised to score a three-run home run with all bases covered. However, Isiah-Kiner Falefa completely misjudged the situation and made a greedy attempt to steal the third base. Judge left the pitch, and despite fumbling, the catcher managed a perfect throw to run out the infielder. In the aftermatch, Judge, too, was struck out, and the Yanks lost the lead. Meanwhile, the fans certainly did not miss this chance to call out IKF for his repeated failures. They asked him to show some game sense and put the team first rather than making unnecessary errors in the worst possible situation.

Domingo German’s Horror Show Led To Bombers 2-3 Loss Against Guardians

The New York Yankees pitching staff is in the worst possible state. After losing nearly seven starters to injuries, the onus shifted to Domingo German and Clarke Schmidt to step up for the team. However, both have been unable to meet the expectations so far. Moreover, German’s yesterday’s outing was a complete horror show. He struggled with control and could last only three innings in which he gave away two hits, one run, and five walks.

On the other hand, the Yankees’ newly acquired reliever, Colten Brewer, emerged as the sole silver lining of the matchup. He pitched two scoreless innings with one hit, walk, and strikeout. His control and wind-up on the mound looked really promising. Overall, it was an afternoon to forget for the Bombers, who committed an awful lot of errors on the field and gifted multiple free walks.
