Yankees’ Carlos Rodon Believes New York Fans Are Better Than Giants’ Fans! “Never Get Booed There”

Ex-San Francisco Giants pitcher, Carlos Rodon, took a dig at the Giants fans while sharing his views on New York Yankees fans.

New York Yankees strengthened their defense this off-season. Last season, the lack of substantial defense led to the team’s elimination in the ALCS against Houston Astros. The defense was marred by injury concerns towards the end of the season with no sizeable backup in the bullpen. Hence, the front office stayed firm on their plan and focused on building a solid defense along with a strong offense.

The Yankees signed ex-San Francisco Giants pitcher Carlos Rodon during this free agency. Rodon opted out of his two-year contract with the Giants and entered the free-agent market. Furthermore, the Yanks reached out to the pitcher and locked him in for six years at a whopping salary of $162 million. Meanwhile, the pitcher arrived for spring training last week and spoke his heart out about his feelings after joining New York Yankees.

New York is a tough place to be for a sportsperson. The people of New York are well-versed and passionate about their sport. Hence, one must prepare themselves for intense criticism while representing New York. Who could describe it better than the Yankees bullpen? The Yanks players are often booed at their own stadium. For example, last year, the New Yorkers booed their star player, Aaron Judge, who scored 62 home runs in a single MLB season during a home game. However, it seems like the club’s latest acquisition likes to be heckled.

Carlos Rodon addressed the media after his first training session with the Yankees. While talking to the reporters, he shared his views on the Yankees fan base. While expressing his thoughts, the pitcher took a dig at his former team. Rodon said the Giants’ fans are less invested compared to New Yorkers, as you never get booed in San Francisco, regardless of the results. Whereas in New York, even the best of the best are heckled at any given time. And Carlos Rodon is going to have a taste of it very soon.

“Giants fans are invested, but not like in New York,” said Carlos Rodon.

Meanwhile, Carlos Rodon reported for spring training at Yankees base camp in Tampa, Florida. He joined the pitchers and catchers group and took the field last Thursday. Furthermore, Rodon did mild workouts and did a few throws. He practiced alongside Gerrit Cole for the first time since his arrival at the New York Yankees. Moreover, the pitcher looked fresh and in good shape.

This season, Rodon will start second on the starting pitching rotation behind Gerrit Cole. The southpaw will likely lead the rotation for the whole season, along with Cole. On the other hand, the rotation is falling apart before the opening day as two of the starters are facing an injury scare. Frankie Montas and Nestor Cortes are out on the bench due to injuries. While Montas might sit out for the whole season due to surgery, Cortes could return before the opening day.
