Sir Lewis Hamilton shocked the fans and the F1 world in general when he announced his move to Ferrari. He won’t leave Mercedes right away. In 2024, the great Briton is still a Mercedes driver. But the question is if he can end his epic collaboration with the German team with a bang. Can the Silver Arrows help the British racer win one more championship? It seems really hard for the German outfit to beat the Red Bull team to win the constructor title this year. The Austrian outfit won 21 races last year. And there is a chance that they might have a better package this year, too.

Hence, Mercedes may not win the team’s championship. But can they help Lewis Hamilton win his coveted eighth title? The seven-time champion mentioned that he is focusing on giving his best one last time with the Silver Arrows. Lately, the new Mercedes car made headlines because of their unique front wing design. But the whole F1 world is waiting eagerly to see Hamilton wearing the iconic “Red Uniform.” That’s not happening until next year. Lately, Hamilton discussed why he decided to move to Ferrari.

Recently, Lewis Hamilton told the media, including Sportskeeda, that when he re-signed with Mercedes last year, he saw a future with them. Then, the new year came along with a brand new opportunity. And he decided to take it. Most importantly, Hamilton believes it was the hardest decision he ever had to make. Moreover, he had been with Mercedes for over 26 years. They supported him through thick and thin, and he couldn’t be more grateful. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton said he and the team had been through an incredible journey together. He takes a lot of pride in saying that they have created history in the sport.

Even though he is proud of what they have achieved together, it is about “Writing my story, it is time to start a new chapter.” That’s what Hamilton believes in. As a result, he felt it was time to part ways. But the records speak volumes of the epic partnership between a team and the racer. Lewis Hamilton won six championships with the Silver Arrows. From 2017 to 2020, there was no stopping, Hamilton and Mercedes. Previously, the Mercedes-Hamilton combo won in 2014 as well as 2015. But now, the seven-time champion looks to start a new chapter with the most successful F1 team ever.

During the pre-season testing in Bahrain, Hamilton was present for a press conference. At the conference, the Mercedes driver mentioned he aims to foster diversity. Moreover, he is proud of the work they have done in Mercedes since 2020 to improve diversity within the organization. As per Fox Sports, Hamilton said Mercedes as a team is well ahead of other F1 teams in that respect.

But Hamilton believes there is still a lot of work to do in the sport for diversity. He has been talking to F1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali to work more within the sport. In terms of diversity, Lewis Hamilton said Ferrari has a lot of work to do. He made it a priority to talk to John Elkann, the Ferrari Executive chairman. And Hamilton feels they are eager to work on it together too.
