This offseason, New Yankees have left no stones unturned to build as strong a squad as possible for the next MLB season. In addition to signing high-profile free agents like Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and Carlos Rodon, the team has got back some of its players, including Tommy Kahnle. Ever since his return to the Bombers, the pitcher has been delighted.

Tommy Kahnle Talks About His Returns To The Bombers!

In one of the highlights of the MLB winter meeting, The New York Yankees signed a two-year deal with the pitcher Tommy Kahnle for 11 Million dollars. Apparently, it seems that Kahnle was just about as surprised about his return to pinstripes as everyone else. Recently, Tommy had a conversation with the YES network where he talked about his deal with the Bronx Bombers.

Tommy admitted that when he became a free agent from the Dodgers, he wasn\’t sure if the Yankees would be interested in signing him. Kahnle expressed a desire to return to the East Coast and play for the Yankees because he is familiar with the franchise. And some of his former teammates are still on the roster. Tommy stated that returning to the Yankees was a top objective. And when his contract with the Yankees was ultimately announced last week, he was as thrilled as he was astonished.

With Clay Holmes serving as the closer at the moment, Tommy should fit into the Yankees\’ bullpen at the back end. The Yankees selected Kahnle in the fifth round in 2010. But the Rockies ultimately won his services in the 2014 Rule 5 Draft.

In 129 appearances throughout portions of four seasons in the Bronx after being acquired from the White Sox again in 2017, he recorded a 4.01 ERA. Kahnle needs Tommy John surgery after just pitching one inning in 2020. He joined the Dodgers for rehabilitation, although he didn\’t pitch again until this current campaign. However, he appeared healthy and successful, with a 2.84 ERA in 13 regular-season outings. Tommy is elated to get a chance to work with the Yankees once again. Since joining, he claimed to have communication with pitching coach Matt Blake.

The Yankees Sign James Norwood!

The Yankees have signed two right-handed relievers, one of whom is from the Bronx to minor league contracts. According to Jack Curry of the YES Network, James Norwood was signed by New York on Tuesday.

Norwood pitched 17.1 innings and made 20 appearances with the Phillies in 2022, both career highs. However, he had an 8.31 ERA. Last year, he pitched in Boston\’s organization as well, compiling a 4.87 ERA in 20.1 innings at Triple-A. Norwood had a 10.6 BB% when pitching for the Phillies and a 12.5 BB% in the minors. He has demonstrated the ability to throw punchout innings. In the major leagues last year, he struck out 25.9% of the batters he faced in the minors, it increased to 27.3%.
