CHECKOUT: Who Was In Cap Aaron Judge’s Troop To Tampa For The Yankees’ Preparation?

The 2024 MLB season is just around the corner. Thus, ahead of the big season, the New York Yankees players led by Aaron Judge are back to the off-season grind. The 2023 season exposed the team to every possible weakness. The Bombers finished with an abysmal 82-80 record season and faced the highest standard of humiliation.

Thus, this year, the pressure to stage an awe-inspiring comeback has kept the Yankees on its toes. Firstly, the front office did justice to its power by making bold moves this off-season. The leadership has managed to put together a strong roster. Now, the baton passes on to the players to do their part, for which captain Aaron Judge led a small pack to Tampa last weekend.

This MLB season, the New York Yankees are serious about staging a comeback. Spring training is scheduled for next month around Valentine’s Day. However, a few players already reported to Tampa over the previous weekend. As per the ground report coming from the Yanks training facility in Tampa, captain Aaron Judge led a group of players who reported early ahead of spring training, which is scheduled three weeks from now. Gleyber Torres, Anthony Volpe, DJ LeMahieu, Austin Wells, Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes, Jonathan Loaisiga, Oswaldo Cabrera, and Jasson Dominguez accompanied the captain to Tampa. Rodon and Cortes, in particular, looked much leaner.

Not only that, the batters practiced in the cage, whereas many performed field reps. Meanwhile, catchers and pitchers have been summoned to report in Tampa on Valentine’s Day for spring training. While most half of the roster has assembled, a few will join in the coming weeks. Moreover, the team’s newest additions, Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, and Marcus Stroman, are yet to join the squad. Having said that, this season holds utmost significance for the New York Yankees. The 2023 season labeled a loser tag on the team that has 27 World Series titles to its name. Regardless, with the areas of concerns addressed over the off-season, the fans expect a much better season in 2024 compared to last year. This season, it’s not only the World Series on the line. But the franchise’s pride is also at stake. Thus, the roster must do better by hook or crook.

In a major shift in outfield positioning, Yankees skipper Aaron Boone has dropped hints of Aaron Judge having to play left field this year. Judge has not played left since his freshman year in college. He is a traditional right fielder with occasional stint in center field. However, left field is an unknown territory for the Yankee captain.

Regardless, Aaron Judge is not worried about the consequences. Aaron Boone added that Judge remains completely on board with the idea of playing left field. Getting the team combination right remains his first priority. Thus, he will not hesitate to switch roles in order to accommodate the rest of the players in the lineup.
