New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge hasn’t been hitting the way he used to this season. He is the only one to start the 2023 season with a home run in his very first at-bat. However, this year, in 23 games, the former MVP has managed only three long hits.
While hitters facing slumps are nothing new, Aaron Judge’s isn’t showing signs of a comeback, which makes the matter far more serious. However, irrespective of the constant chatter, Judge’s teammate Juan Soto backed him publicly and reassured him that a breakout is just around the corner.
Juan Soto Not Worried About Aaron Judge’s Form!
As the New York Yankees navigate through the early stages of the season, one of the focal points of discussion among fans and analysts has been the form of star outfielder Aaron Judge. In 23 games, he batted .174 with three homers, 11 RBI, 31 strikeouts in 104 at-bats, and a .645 OPS. Notably, his strikeouts are second worst in the AL. Moreover, after his recent four-strikeout game against Tampa Bay Rays, Judge was the subject of heavy boos from the home crowd. However, despite Judge’s recent struggles at the plate, his teammate and fellow outfielder Juan Soto remains unfazed and confident in Judge’s abilities. Soto, who joined the Yankees in a blockbuster trade during the offseason, believes that Judge’s track record and work ethic speak volumes about his ability to bounce back.
Moreover, Juan Soto said that he’d witnessed Aaron Judge’s everyday grind in and out. And as far as slump is concerned, it’s just a part of the game. Soto revealed that even during the phase of the struggle, pitchers prefer to pitch to him and not Aaron Judge as they are scared of the captain. That proves his caliber as a lethal slugger. And at the end of the day, the generational star reaffirmed his faith and trust in the captain to bounce back. “He’s trying to find his timing and his swing. And he’s going to get it one day. I’m not worried about him at all,” said Soto. That being said, Soto’s comments reflect the positive team culture that the Yankees have cultivated this year. The players are in a positive state of mind and are backing each other at every step of the way. A positive work environment is what it comes down to at the end of the day.
Aaron Judge Shifts Approach To Snap Out Of Slump!
New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge understands the gravity of his slump at the plate and is, therefore, making every effort to snap out of it. In his latest interview, Judge revealed that the key to regain form is to reduce the number of missed pitches.
Aaron Judge explained that rather than focusing on getting home runs, he needs to get as many hits and walks as possible to stay connected to the game. Once he starts connecting pitches in the zone, the runs will automatically follow. It would be interesting to see if this approach helps Aaron Judge snap out of the snag.
