Golden State Warriors star guard, Draymond Green, has spent the last 11 years with the team and won four NBA championships. However, this season has been different for him. His pre-season altercation with Jordan Poole created a sense of disconnect with the team. Green admitted that he was less involved in the Warriors’ overall strategic meeting. That affected his performance on the court as the Warriors crashed out in the second-round playoff by the Lakers.

Meanwhile, as the off-season approaches, Draymond Green‘s current contract is coming to an end. However, he still has an over $24 million option for the next season. That being said, as per the latest rumors, Green is set to decline the offer and is mulling entering free agency. While nothing has been confirmed, speculation over the guard’s next landing spot has already started to gain momentum. The popular spot is the Los Angeles Lakers.

Draymond Green shook the NBA fraternity earlier today when rumors of him declining an option contract with the Golden State Warriors started doing rounds. However, his manager has confirmed that they will exhaust all options with the Warriors before entering free agency. That being said, rumors have been going on that if the guard enters the free agent market, the Lakers will bat for him owing to his deep friendship with LeBron James. Former NBA player and ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins has claimed that Green would be a perfect fit in Hollywood due to his impressive defensive skills.

Anthony Davis is LA Laker’s best defender right now. However, he is often left stranded on the other end. Davis needs a potent partner to stop the likes of Nikola Jokic in the West. Hence, Draymond Green, partnered with Anthony Davis, will become one of the most formidable defender duos in the whole league. While Perkins’ points are valid, it is highly unlikely that Green would part ways with the Warriors. Despite recent troubles and controversies, Green will not end his decade-long association this easily. The guard might have opted out of the contract due to the Warrior’s salary cap issues. Hence, the club might buy him back in free agency at a much lower price. Regardless, the rumors are likely to surface for a while.
