Team Principal Toto Wolff revealed that Mercedes had shifted their plans to implement upgrades in Monaco since the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was canceled the previous week. Clearly, the German team is losing time, as Red Bull has already won all five races so far. Mercedes is in the third position in the constructors’ championship as they are next to the new challenger Aston Martin. Apparently, the only team who looked like it possesses the ability to beat the Austrian team so far has been Aston Martin, with Fernando Alonso on the steering wheel.

But RB19 is clearly the fastest car on the grid at present. No other team seems to have a chance to beat the pace of the Red Bull’s car. On the other hand, Mercedes has been struggling with the zero side pod concept of the previous W13 and the current W14 cars. Already six races are over in the current season, with one GP getting washed away. Hence, it is now or never for Toto Wolff and his team to get back in the game, by introducing the impending upgrades.

Evidently, Monaco is not an ideal place to implement new modifications to the car. Since the street circuits of the iconic GP might present a lot of obstacles for any team working on new upgrades. Moreover, the next race in Barcelona might be more of an ideal place to try new upgrades. Mercedes plans to change the design while they add side pods, along with the team fixing some more aerodynamic issues. Thus fans were excited to see how the upgrades helped Mercedes beat Red Bull. However, Toto Wolff, in a recent interview with oe24, mentioned, “It won’t happen anytime soon. But it will solve many problems we have been facing since the preseason testings in Bahrain this season.”

Toto Wolff shattered the dreams of Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton fans when he said that they accept Red Bull’s superiority. The new upgrades won’t change the result of the races so far. But, according to Wolff, it might help Lewis Hamilton and George Russell drive a more competitive car. As W14 has been pretty stubborn and stiff so far. The Mercedes F1 team had explained the problems with the car’s rear downforce and the zero side pod concept as a whole. Lewis Hamilton added the problem of the cockpit position. He feels like he is driving very close to the front wheel. It does not make him feel very good.

Every driver needs to have faith and confidence in the car they are driving. However, without the confidence, they won’t be able to go full throttle. Mercedes star is at his best when he goes full throttle. But recently, the seven-time champion has been unable to do what he does best due to a lack of trust in the car.

But the Mercedes boss is keen to provide Hamilton with the best possible car to win races. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton is eager to win the coveted eighth championship. He is currently holding an equal number of world titles with Michael Schumacher. However, the Briton has won much more races.
