The Golden State Warriors have exponentially increased their growth with their superstar leader Steph Curry. There is no doubt that Curry is an immovable piece of the Warriors’ puzzle in the NBA. The point guard came to the Warriors in 2009 when the team did not have much significant place in the league. But the last eight years have brought incredible changes for the organization. And the eight-time All-star has been at the heart of the revolution. Winning four titles in the previous eight years is no joke considering the level of competition in the league.
However, the journey to becoming one of the best and revolutionizing the game did not fall easy for Steph Curry. Apart from all the challenges that everyone faces, Curry has to fight to survive. The Golden boy always had all the talent, even more than anyone could ever have. But his unexplainable injuries could have been huge resistance to his career. Curry’s abilities could have suffered sidelines, but things turned out well for the superstar. Keep reading about the problems Steph faced to become who he is today.
Steph Curry’s Ankles Could Have Become A Turning Points
In 2009 in his rookie year, Steph Curry was mesmerizing everyone with an average of 36.2 points in his 80-game season. But soon enough, the fear and doubts about his physicality started to creep up because of his stature. And soon enough, in a game against the San Antonio Spurs, he had a baffling ankle injury. Steph defines that he felt like Forest Gump in those moments. And since then, his ankle injuries became a serious matter of concern as they started happening more often.
These frequent injuries started eating up his playing time, and his playtime kept reducing. In 2011-12 things were so bad that Steph Curry only played 26 games in the season. Things got so out of hand that the Warriors considered trading the talented point guard. Although the organization had faith in Curry’s skillset, his lack of availability meant he was more of a liability. The Dubs even started having a conversation with Milwaukee Bucks, but the Bucks walked away. After the failed move, the future star worked hard on his ankles to avoid injuries and display his full potential to the NBA.
Strong Ankles Bring More Titles
Keke Lyles arrived at the Golden State Warriors to improve them as the Performace Director of the team. Keke was the one who helped Steph Curry to overcome weak ankles with his training regimen. However, his contribution to the team is always overlooked and ignored by the Dubs. Following the training, the point guard came back to the league after two years to win the unanimous MVP in the NBA’s history. And he also led his to the finals to win the championship in the 2014-15 season. After that, the team has been on a dream run, winning four titles in the last eight years.

And his fourth title, which he won last year, took him to the White House again, which he last visited in 2015. Joe Biden welcomed the whole team and told them about his fondness for the Warriors from his younger years. Apart from chatting and having the best moments of their life, Steph Curry and Biden created a viral moment. Both posted the same picture of them walking down the White House with the caption ‘Team Captains‘. An iconic moment for the Warriors captain, who led his team to five finals and won four of them.
