Russell Westbrook Gets INJURED In The Game Against The Spurs! Lakers\’ Winning Spree In Danger?

Los Angeles Lakers have finally rediscovered the path to their winning ways. For the first time this season, the Lakers have won three consecutive games in a row. On Sunday night, the Lakers defeated San Antonio Spurs by 123-92 to secure their fifth win of the season. However, by the end of the game, the Lakers were in the camp with more concerns. During the game, LA point guard Russell Westbrook and part of the Big Three hurt his thumb badly. 

Russell Westbrook Injures Thumb In The Game Against Spurs!

Los Angeles Lakers might have gotten a victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night in Crypt.com Arena. However, it wasn\’t without a heavy price to pay. During the match, Russell Westbrook endured an injury on his right thumb. The initial X-Rays suggest a negative on the fracture. But Westbrook will undergo a detailed evaluation of his thumb on Monday. However, the point guard did not provide any update about his injury during the postgame press conference. 

This might be a pretty big blow for the Lakers\’ lineup as another member of the \’Big Three, LeBron James, is already missing games because of his leg injury. Meanwhile, Thomas Bryant at the center and guard Dennis Schroder at guard had just made their own thumb recoveries. 

The 2022 season has been a story of a comeback for Russell Westbrook. After the flood of criticism for his lack of form, Westbrook found his groove again in the new role of the sixth man. He has been an important player for the team in Purple & Gold over the past few games. Russ has performed better after switching to the bench, averaging 17.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 8.5 assists in 29.7 minutes per game. 

From beyond the arc, he has made 39.5% of his attempts and 80% of his free throws. In the latest game also, Westbrook scored ten points along with equal assists. This season Russell has brought a lot of balance to the team\’s lineup, according to Coach Darvin. Now his thumb injury could harm the team in various ways. 

Furthermore, there is no clarity about Russell\’s availability for the next game as of now. Only after the tests on Monday shall we have a clear picture of how serious is Westbrook\’s injury and how long it will take for him to heal.  

Following a back-to-back set of games against the Spurs, the Lakers will travel for a three-game stretch, making their first stop in Phoenix. Meanwhile, during this time, the fans can only hope that Russ\’s injury isn\’t too serious and the Lakers do not suffer because of it.
