Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team is looking for a comeback after they were dethroned as the ultimate champions of the sport by Red Bull Racing. Regulation change coupled with dubious car concept selection led to disaster as the Silver arrows tumbled down the pecking order of the grid.

While Mercedes managed to grab one win in 2022, in the 2023 F1 season, the team’s worst nightmares came true as they recorded a winless season. Nonetheless, in 2024, the team is seeking a complete turnaround. With the newly developed W15, the Brackley-based team believes in their chances of a comeback. On that note, the team recently announced the date on which the 2024 challenger will be unveiled.

Love is in the air, and so is anticipation for Formula 1 enthusiasts. As the 2024 F1 season is scheduled to hold a pre-season test run session in the last week of February, teams have set up dates to unveil their respective cars. Ferrari was the first one to reveal that their 2024 challenger will be launched on February 13th, 2024. Subsequently, Mercedes and McLaren also followed its queue to schedule launch events. The Silver Arrows has chosen Valentine’s Day to unveil their much-anticipated car for the upcoming season, the W15. This unexpected yet exciting announcement has added a romantic touch to the typical pre-season Formula 1 buzz.

Having said that, Mercedes has high hopes for the 2024 F1 season challenger, W15. As confirmed by team principal Toto Wolff, the engineers have revamped the concept of the car completely. Almost every other key component will be replaced. The first and obvious change will come from the sidepods. As promised, the Silver Arrows plan on dumping the Zerpod concept to opt for a more traditional concept. Moreover, the chassis and gearbox will also undergo a change to reduce drag. Overall, the fans eagerly anticipate the technical specifications and aerodynamic advancements. Besides, the Valentine’s Day launch introduces an element of emotion and connection. The anticipation and exception remain sky-high. But it would be interesting to see if the Brackley-based company manages to live up to the set standards.

Lewis Hamilton Shares Positive Update On W15 Development!

Meanwhile, Mercedes ace driver Lewis Hamilton visited the Brackley factory to take a stalk of W15 development. He visited the factory multiple times during the season and shared his insights as well. Hamilton revealed that he checked the wind tunnel, and it seemed promising. Lewis reveals that he has a method to judge a car’s performance by its wind tunnel progress. Thus, he hopped onto the simulators and noticed decent progress.

Having said that, Lewis Hamilton says that the car will turn into an absolute beast the next time he tests it. He reckoned that development never stops in the factory. And each time he visits to check the car, he gets a new one. But overall, the British driver is eager to see the final result. He feels that the engineers have used his input, and the W15 will definitely be better compared to W13 and W14.
