Lewis Hamilton, an F1 legend, has recently failed to produce on the world’s largest racing stage. The 39-year-old racer is having a terrible season full of misfortunes. Subsequently, at the end of the last race in 2021, the Briton looks to have lost his once-magical touch, with substantial hurdles in obtaining a victory. While he has been criticized for his current dip, the Mercedes F1 project is also to blame.

Despite his recent questionable form, his passion and dedication to the sport remain unparalleled. The seven-time world champion is the epitome of physical competence in motorsport. He is undoubtedly among the fittest drivers to ever race on the circuit. While many perceive motorsport as simply sitting and racing, the importance of physical health cannot be overstated. The 39-year-old Briton revealed his fitness and diet secrets on a recent episode of ‘Hot Ones.’

The Seven-Time World Champion Follows A Strict Diet And A Rigorous Fitness Regime

Lewis Hamilton has been an integral part of motorsport for almost two decades. While the star racer will turn 40 the following year, his fitness is top-notch. Although the Briton possessed a natural talent for racing, his adherence to a strict diet and fitness regimen has further enhanced his skills. The Mercedes driver is one of the most successful racers in F1’s history, with 103 wins and 104 pole positions. He shifted to a plant-based diet in 2017, busting the myth that a plant diet isn’t sufficient. Earlier, in 2021, he claimed that switching to a plant-based diet has improved his fitness and taste buds. Further, it also improved his health and energy levels. While Hamilton deeply loves flavorful food, the racer is conscious of the food choices affecting his on-track performance.

A driver’s fitness could directly impact performance, as even an ounce of extra weight could slow down the car. On the other hand, Hamilton uses extreme measures to ensure he doesn’t carry anything extra. He revealed that the F1 car had a water tube, but he never drank water from it. Therefore, he removed the water from the vehicle, around 500 milliliters, to avoid extra weight. The temperature inside an F1 car gets very high, and with all the safety gear, a driver sweats profusely. Therefore, being hydrated becomes crucial as it could result in health issues. However, Hamilton is deeply dedicated to the racing craft as he avoids water to cut out the extra weight. Everyone is aware of Hamilon’s disciplined fitness regime. The Briton maintains a low-body fat content year-round with a strict diet and workout. Moreover, even during the off-season, he goes for a run.
