Outfielder Alex Verdugo and starting pitcher Marcus Stroman were two of the few key off-season additions to the New York Yankees roster. Verdugo was presumed to be the team’s long-withstanding left-field solution. On the other hand, Stroman was expected to be an anchor in the starting rotation.

Fortunately, both these experienced players lived up to the expectations and have been in sublime form in the pinstripes this year. Meanwhile, Alex Verdugo, who also apparently shares a similar extroverted personality with Marcus Stroman, bonded over a thoughtful gesture that left the pitcher extremely moved.

Veteran MLB starting pitcher Marcus Stroman has always been an outspoken personality, which created a negative perspective of him in the media. However, prior to his debut in pinstripes, the pitcher insisted that he was a loving person, and soon, the Yankee fans would get to know his real side. On the mound, Stroman has been excellent, with a 3.69 ERA in six starts so far. He received great love from the home fans during the Yankees home debut. That being said, Marcus Stroman likes to live his life to the fullest and is not afraid of expressing his true self in the open. As a part of who he is, Stroman wears a durag on the back of his head. He’s done that throughout his 11-year-long MLB career.

However, at the Yankees, Marcus Stroman found a friend who was willing to support him by donning a durag himself. Alex Verdugo was seen wearing a durag in a recent game, which left Stroman in complete awe. While speaking to The Athletic, the pitcher revealed that never in his life did someone support him like this. But Verdugo is special as he’s someone who’s not afraid of being himself out there even if it does not suit the social norms. “He’s not scared to support his brothers, even if it might go against a societal norm,” said Stroman of his friendship with Verdugo. Interestingly, Stroman predicted pre-season that he would bond well with Verdugo in Yanks as the duo share similar personality traits. Indeed, the mutual camaraderie is heartwarming to see, and it will only add to the positive clubhouse environment.

New York Yankees toppled the mighty Baltimore Orioles in game 3 of the four-game series on Wednesday courtesy of Luis Gil and Clay Holmes’ masterclass on the mound. While Gil pitched a career-high 6.1 innings, Holmes recorded his 10th save of the season whilst maintaining his scoreless streak.

Meanwhile, for the series finale, the Yankees could welcome in-form outfielder Alex Verdugo back in the lineup. Verdugo was placed on the paternity list ahead of the series, and he is expected to fly to Baltimore just hours before the game. And manager Aaron Boone confirmed that Verdugo could feature in the lineup for Thursday’s game. But nothing’s confirmed as of yet, as Verdugo has yet to join the squad.
