The New York Yankees have missed their top prospect in the lineup for a long time. Last year, Jasson Dominguez played a few games. It could have been his great debut season for the NY side. But then he got injured with a torn UCL. Later, he needed to undergo Tommy John surgery. Then, as it always happens, it takes a long time for the recovery process. As a result, the top prospect of the Bronx Bombers missed the rest of the season. Subsequently, the estimated time for his return to the lineup was around the middle of the 2024 regular season.

Anyway, the Yankees had to deal with more injury issues last season. It really messed up their whole season. Eventually, they failed to make it to the postseason for the first time since 2016. On top of that, the NY side finished fourth in the AL East with a horrible 82-80 record. As a result, last year was the worst season in the last 30 years for the NY side. Lately, there are rumors that Dominguez, who was gearing up to return to the rotation soon, has again faced some injury concerns.

On Sunday, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders of Triple-A placed Jasson Dominguez on the seven-day Injured List. The RailRiders had a game on Saturday. Moreover, the top prospect of the Yankees made an early exit from that game. It sure raises concern for the Bronx Bombers. Lately, Aaron Boone told the reporters, including Gary Phillips of The New York Post that the young Dominican outfielder suffered a left side injury. Moreover, the manager revealed that the top prospect is still undergoing a lot of testing to figure out what’s the extent of the problem. The Yankees have not yet far removed Dominguez from rehab after his Tommy John surgery. Hence, it only makes sense that the NY side will take immediate action to put Jasson back on the Injured List.

It is not necessary for the Pinstripes that the tests will reveal a more severe issue, such as an oblique strain. Anyway, the NY side would make Jasson Dominguez sit out a few games at least. Moreover, on Monday, the RailRiders have an off day. Hence, if all goes well, the top prospect might miss as many as six games. But if the tests reveal an oblique strain then it can extend his stay on the IL for weeks and even for months. The Yankees Faithful would pray that the “Martian” avoids such severe issue so that he can return to the lineup sooner than ever.

Jasson Dominguez made a tantalizing debut last year before a torn UCL cut his season short. Fans and experts have heralded “The Martian” as a top prospect. He impressed last year when he hit .258/.303/.677 with four home runs over his first 33 plate appearances. But due to the torn UCL, the Yankees reinstated him on the 60-day Injured List. They optioned the top prospect to play in Triple-A.

He has already played a lot of games in the minor league due to his rehab assignments. In 2024, at the Single-A, Double-A and Triple-A levels, the Martian had a slash line of .356/.404/.609 over 94 combined PA. Clearly, with these outstanding performances, the 21-year-old Dominican slugger is ready for the majors. All he needs to do is to avoid any more injuries.
