Besides Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the New York Yankees have been onto San Diego Padres generational star Juan Soto. The New York-based outfit’s desperation to land outfielders is second to none. Brain Cashman, the general manager, dismissed any doubts by confirming off-season plans during a press address held earlier this month.

However, landing Juan Soto is no less than an uphill battle. The superstar outfielder remains a premium talent in the league. The Padres aren’t willing to let him go, and even if they do, the Yankees’ pursuit would be marred with aggressive competition. Amid speculations, fresh rumors suggest positive progress is happening from Yankee’s end.

Juan Soto, just 25 years old, is already considered one of the game’s generational talents. Soto has quickly risen to stardom, earning multiple All-Star selections and Silver Slugger awards. He has the potential to solve two key troubles of the New York Yankees’ roster composition. Soto does not only solve the offensive crisis but also serves as a long-term left-field solution. Thus, the generational outfielder emerged as a perfect fit candidate. However, the Yanks faced several hurdles in their pursuit of their dream. Firstly, the Padres general manager AJ Preller has expressed his unwillingness to part with Soto as he holds the key to the team’s championship dreams.

Secondly, Juan Soto is unwilling to sign an extension contract as he wants to explore the free agent market in 2025. Amid uncertainties, Andy Martino of SNY claimed that the Yankees and Padres have made significant progress in Soto’s trade talks. “Teams have begun exchanging names in a possible blockbuster that would send Juan Soto to New York,” said Martino. He further added that Padres’ initial ask was too steep, which is stalling the trade talks to advance further. Thus, the two teams are yet to reach an agreement. Regardless, the Bombers’ initiative means a lot in itself. Despite Soto’s future uncertainty, the front office is ready to take up potential risks. Having said that, Yankee fans are now eagerly awaiting further updates on the progress of the Juan Soto trade negotiations. If completed, this blockbuster deal could redefine the competitive landscape of the Bronx Bombers.

MLB Insider Suggests Yanks To Look For Alternatives For Juan Soto!

Amid trade speculations, Jon Heyman of the New York Post has advised New York Yankees to opt out of the Juan Soto blockbuster trade. Heyman feels that Soto’s price is too steep. The outfielder previously rejected a $440 million extension contract from the Nationals and landed at the Padres via a trade route. Now, the Padres are demanding several top prospects in exchange for Soto.

All things considered, Heyman termed Juan Soto an unideal trade fit for the New York Yankees. Instead, the insider suggested going after someone like Cody Bellinger, who is a much cheaper alternative. “He’s a better fit due to his position, his price, and especially his long-term availability,” said Jon Heyman. Needless to say, Soto’s blockbuster pursuit is getting more complicated as the days progress.
