The New York Yankees are desperate to find a suitable starting pitcher. Who’s it going to be? They wanted to sign the Japanese sensation Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers went all-in, too, to get the Japanese ace pitcher. He would have been a perfect fit alongside Gerrit Cole. But the NY fan’s heart broke after the 26-year-old sensation changed his mind and signed a 12-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Anyway, since then, the front office has been looking for the best options available this winter for starting pitchers. To get a starting pitcher, the Pinstripes must be ready to go all in. Anyhow, there might be another option for a starting pitcher available for the Yankees after all. Marcus Stroman and the NY side had conflicting reports on interest. But recent reports suggest the Yankees might have interest in Stroman.

Initial reports said the pitcher wanted to sign with the NY side, but Brian Cashman and co didn’t show any interest. However, as per the new reports, the Yankees and Marcus Stroman had mutual interest, and the NY side is a favorite to seal the deal. MLB Network’s Jon Morosi mentioned as per rumors, the Bronx Bombers and Stroman had productive discussions lately. They’ll cover the latest details on MLB Network. Anyway, Morosi added that the Yankees are favorites to sign him, as per sources. Moreover, the NY side find themselves in this worsening pitching situation because they had to trade a lot of pitchers to the San Diego Padres and the Boston Red Sox.

It was necessary to land the outfielders they so desperately were looking for. Only if Yoshinobu Yamamoto signed the 10-year deal with the NY side, they would not have to be in this situation. But things obviously did not pan out as the Bronx Bombers really hoped they would. However, only time can say if Marcus Stroman will sign with the Pinstripes. The former Chicago Cubs star was a free agent and waiting for some action this winter. Finally, it seems like he’s going somewhere.

Cashman And Steinbrenner Must Go All-In For A Starting Pitcher

Moreover, the NY side has some really good trade options like Blake Snell, Jordan Montgomery, or Dylan Cease. Snell is perhaps the best of them. But he won’t be cheap. Anyway, the Yankees were going all-in for Yamamoto, so why can’t they do that for what’s necessary at the moment? Moreover, the Yankees recently had a strategy meeting in Tampa. Perhaps Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner had a discussion about getting the right players to fill the gaps.

Will the owner cum managing partner be willing to pay as much as they need to land the perfect fit? Now, the Yankees won’t mind to look at different names for the starting pitcher option. Albeit, the fans will heavily bet on Blake Snell and also on Jordan Montgomery. It might be interesting to see if the Yankees reunite with Montgomery after he just ended the last season winning the World Series.
