REPORTS: New York Yankees Pivoting To Blake Snell After Gerrit Cole Injury Scare?

The New York Yankees are left in a lurch after a massive potential injury outbreak hit the pre-season camp. After Aaron Judge missed back-to-back spring games with soreness, ace Gerrit Cole is set to undergo an MRI scan on his pitching elbow. Naturally, Cole’s participation in the opening day remains uncertain.

Gerrit Cole is not only New York Yankees ace starting pitcher but also an pillar of strength. Without him in the rotation, the team would be left paralysed. However, amidst the roster concern, the front office has an opportunity to seek a replacement for a two-time Cy Young pitcher who still happens to be a free agent.

The recent injury scare involving New York Yankees ace pitcher Gerrit Cole has raised questions about the team’s pitching rotation and potential strategies moving forward. While the severity of the elbow injury is still unknown, the Bronx Bombers must brace for the worst. Currently, the rotation lacks depth in case Cole lands on the injury list. However, the front office has an option to bolster the rotation with Blake Snell. The two-time CY Young pitcher is a free agent after being unable to land a deal. Remarkably, Snell was linked to the Yanks strongly earlier this off-season. But negotiations fell through after Snell’s ambitious ask sacred Hal Steinbrenner away.

However, with the dynamics changes, Yanks might feel the need to pivot to the reigning CY Young pitcher. With Blake Snell’s proven track record, he could serve as a valuable asset for the New York Yankees, especially in the wake of Gerrit Cole’s injury concerns. That being said, if a potential deal with Snell fails to come through, the Bronx Bombers would be left with to find internal solutions. No.8 prospect Will Warren has emerged as an immediate replacement candidate. Of course, filling into the gigantic shoes of Gerrit Cole is no child’s play. But something has to give for the Yanks to ensure a strong start to the season. Additionally, the franchise needs to come clean with Cole’s true nature of the injury. As of now, the MRI scan has been termed as a precautionary measure. But fans refuse to buy it as no player would opt for an MRI scan over minor niggles.

After Gerrit Cole’s elbow MRI news spread across the city of New York, his teammate Nestor Cortes reacted and affirmed that it’s an alarming situation for everyone. Cortes added that he was aware of Cole having some issues with his recovery but didn’t fathom the severity until now.

Nestor Cortes further added that Gerrit Cole is a major part of the institution. Thus, it is tough to hear that he is suffering an injury scare. But the pitcher confirmed that Cole is very self-aware of his body. The MRI scan could be a way for him to get ahead of things and avert an extreme situation.
