Recently, Mercedes added a new floor to the W14 car, which will be their last significant upgrade for the 2023 season. After driving the car in the qualifying sessions, Lewis Hamilton praised the new upgrade.

Hamilton apparently believes he could feel the new floor underneath him, and that’s a very good sign. In the post-race interview, he mentioned it has been almost a couple of years since he felt a new upgrade. Moreover, Hamilton acknowledged that his team must come up with two or more steps like this upgrade, and they can get back to their super competitive mode. He believes the engineers and the team can pull it off. Hamilton had a good feeling about if he had a chance to win the US Grand Prix.
Apparently, the Mercedes driver has not yet run a lot with the new upgrades. Hence, Hamilton has no clear idea. However, hementioned that Red Bull not being in the top three gives them a good chance to win it. Otherwise, Red Bull would just disappear into the distance. Hence, Hamilton hopes to have a tight battle with the rest of the three teams at the top.

But without Mercedes providing him with a fast car, it does not seem possible. Moreover, the German team has made a lot of upgrades to W14 but has not had a win yet. However, it has been very clear that the Brackley team must not go back to their previous zero-side pod concept for the next season. After introducing new side pods, Mercedes added several new upgrades over the following races. The Brackley team added new front and floor suspensions as well as a new rear wing to the W14 car.
Initially, it did help the German team with the car gaining some pace around the low-speed corners. However, they never really achieved the result they wanted so far in 2023. Recently, Lewis Hamilton mentioned the team was not happy because they were far from where they expected to be at the end of this season. However, Hamilton said it was inspiring to see the people in the aero department still working with a lot of enthusiasm.
