Lakers-Patrick Beverley

Ex-Lakers point guard Patrick Beverley has once again trolled his former team and revealed his future plan of action against the Lakers.

Breakups always take an ugly turn, even in the sport of basketball. A trade deal is something a player does not enjoy as they sense a feeling of betrayal from their other team. The same seems to be happening in the Lakers’ case. The Los Angeles Lakers parted ways with two of their regular starters, Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook, on the day of the trade deadline.

However, the deals did not go down well, as the fans smelled a lot of bad blood between the players and the Lakers. After the trade, both Westbrook and Beverley came out in the open to speak against their former team, and a war of words broke out. Meanwhile, Patrick decided to take it a notch up and revealed his true intentions against the Lakers.

The Lakers traded Patrick from the Twins last season. However, the point guard did not fit well into the lineup. He donned the Purple and gold jersey 45 times during the season and averaged 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. Further, during the trade window, LA Lakers traded away Patrick Beverley to Orlando Magic in exchange for the big guy, Mo Bamba. However, Orlando and Patrick agreed to a buyout, and the point guard entered free agency. Moreover, after days of negotiations, Beverley signed with his home team Chicago Bulls, for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, the Bulls are yet to face the Lakers this season. Both teams will lock horns twice in the month of March. Moreover, Patrick Beverley is likely to feature in both games. Hence, it’s his moment of redemption. Furthermore, Pat Bev appeared on a podcast post the sign-in with the Bulls and revealed his plan of action against his former team. The point guard said he intends to knock the Lakers out of the playoff race. The Lakers, who are 13th in the West, are actually on the edge of elimination, and a loss against the Bulls will hurt them badly. Hence, Patrick wants to hit them where it hurts the most.

Pat Bev Blames Locker Room Tensions For The Lakers’ Poor Show

Patrick Beverley had been taking potshots at the LA Lakers ever since his departure. Shortly after announcing the trade deal, the point guard appeared in an interview and spoke about the Lakers’ poor run this season. He said the atmosphere in the Lakers locker room is not ideal. Hence, the friction among one another has been reflected in the team’s performance on the court.

On the other hand, the Lakers have 23 games in hand to make the final playoff push. With an entirely new lineup, the team has no time to waste in settling in. All the guys must be on their toes and treat each game as a virtual knockout match. The Purple and gold have been stationed at the 13th spot on the Western Conference points table for a while now. Hence, leveling up from here is extremely difficult.
