Adrian Newey Confident: Crash Won’t Impact Verstappen-Norris Friendship
Verstappen was in first place when the lights went out, followed by Norris in second. There had been many close calls between the two excellent friends, so they would not take it easy. However, the race’s turning point occurred on lap 64, when the two collided and destroyed their tires. Verstappen hobbled back to the pits and returned to the track to patch the damage, but he was already behind. On the other hand, Lando Norris was forced to retire owing to damage received by his F1 vehicle. This event enraged both leading runners, and Mercedes emerged triumphant. However, as tensions escalated between the two drivers, the Red Bull Racing management had to step in to broker a truce. Adrian Newey, the Red Bull Chief Technical Officer, shared his thoughts about the incident during his appearance on Sky Sports. The aero wizard believes Verstappen and Norris will have a small chat. Further, he considers while others are getting ‘fractious,’ the two drivers are great lads, and they’ll sort it out.
