Draymond Green has not had a great phase in his professional career in recent times. Nevertheless, the big man of the Golden State Warriors team has had a great career. He won four NBA Championships with the modern-day Dubs dynasty. Moreover, Green found success with his national team as well. He has been part of two gold medal teams of the USA in the Olympics. After all these championship successes, is Green slowing down all of a sudden? Slowing down or not, he has not been on his best behavior since the new NBA season began.
Otherwise, there is no reason for a player of the caliber of Draymond Green not to get entry in the Men’s Team USA pool for the Paris Olympics. But the director of Team USA Basketball revealed why they did not select Green. Recently, Grant Hill stated that an important reason for not selecting the Warriors big man was his on-court antics that resulted in the two back to back suspensions. However, Green does not see his exclusion that way. Moreover, the GSW big man mentioned that he does not have any hard feelings for not getting the opportunity to be part of Team USA again.
Draymond Green Says, “No Hard Feelings”
On Monday at Chase Center after practice, Draymond Green told reporters that he feels he is not as good as some of the guys in the pool. Over the last couple of Olympics, Team USA did not come up with so many greats together in the same team. That’s what took Green by surprise. Moreover, the big man mentioned it is a who’s who kind of a situation. He said he’s no idiot who can’t figure out who’s who. Moreover, Draymond Green expressed that he is grateful for getting the opportunity to represent his national team in a couple of Olympics. And he ended up winning two gold medals.
It is two more than what Green thought he would win in his career. Hence, the question, “Hey, why he’s not in the team?” is kind of a compliment for Draymond Green. The Warriors big man says that he does not take how the people reacted to his exclusion for granted. Albeit, he feels that he could have won his third Olympics medal if he had that chance. But Green said that if the same team was there four years ago, he would not be in the team in the first place.
The Four-Time NBA Champion Will Root For This Team In Paris Anyway
Draymond Green mentioned that he has a brotherhood with the players part of this team. He says it does not matter if he plays in the Olympics, but he will root for the team like hell because he is still part of the brotherhood. But Draymond Green is not the only one from the previous American team in the Olympics who didn’t get a chance to compete in the Paris Olympics.
Players like Jerami Grant, Keldon Johnson, Zach LaVine, JaVale McGee, and Khris Middleton from the 2020 Olympics didn’t get back invitations to Paris. But the Team USA Basketball players who’ll compete in Paris are Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, De’Aaron Fox, Kahwi Leonard, Jayson Tatum, Bobby Portis, Joel Embiid, Damian Lillard and so on.
