Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders is a minor league baseball team participating in the International League. The club is also a triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. Moreover, the club has won two international titles by now. Their current manager’s contract expired at the end of the season, and the club did not renew the deal. Hence, they started looking out for other prospects in the market.

The search ended as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders announced the appointment of a new manager who also happens to be an ex-Yankee player. The prospect also represented Scrantons during his initial days and rose to the major leagues after performing well with the Scrantons. Well, the manager is none other than an ex-Yankee slugger, Shelley Duncan. Duncan will take over from Dough Davis and lead the team in 2023.

Former slugger, Shelley Duncan, started his career with the Scranton back in 2001. Duncan emerged as the top prospect of the minor league and hence paved his way into the majors. The Scranton is affiliated with the New York Yankees. Thus, the Yanks picked Shelley Duncan to feature him in the major league. He debuted for the Bombers in 2007 and hit three homes homer in the first three games.

Shelley Duncan has completed a full circle as he is back to where he started after decades. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders announced Shelley as their official manager for the next season. Interestingly, while representing Scranton, Shelley won his first international MVP award in 2009. Prior to this, Duncan was associated with the Chicago White Sox as their analytical coordinator. Duncan’s addition is surely a boost for Scranton as he brings a lot of experience and expertise to the table, which could prove crucial for the club moving forward.

While speaking about his new job, Shelley Duncan stated he is extremely elated to come back to his roots. Moreover, Duncan added that all he learned in baseball was all the Yankees’ way. Shelley says the values he instilled in him during his time with the Yanks have stayed with him all the way along till now. Lastly, Duncan concluded by saying it’s an honor for him to come back to the organization where it all began, and he is looking forward to the role.

Yankees director, Kevin Reese, reveals the club is excited to welcome Shelley Duncan back into the organization where he began his pro journey. Kevin further added that Duncan’s experience and expertise will serve the players and the club to the fullest and will help them grow upwards in the right direction.
