The New York Yankees have struggled offensively so far this season, and many fans and analysts are calling for changes to be made. One potential solution is to promote some of the team’s top prospects from the minor leagues to provide a spark on offense. Here are three players the Yankees should consider promoting soon to save their offense.
Andres Chaparro
The inclusion of the 23-year-old baseman Andres Chaparro in the 40-man roster is the need of the hour for the New York Yankees. Andres recovered from a slow start and drilled eight homers with a batting average of .218 in the Triple-A. Not only that but with the unavailability of Josh Donaldson, Chaparro could be a perfect fit at the third base. However, the young baseman could bring in fresh challenges for the Yankees. So far, the prospects have struggled on the plate. Hence, Andres might also take his sweet time adjusting to the major league atmosphere. Despite this, the baseman remains a perfect fit in the Bombers’ offensive lineup. They can at least call him up till Donaldson returns to the least.
Estevan Florial
The Yankees cut Estevan Florial loose, but he somehow cleared the waivers. But, Florial came back with a point t prove. In 11 Triple-A minor league games, he has hit two homers in 10 hits with a batting average of .278. It’s still impressive, given the short sample size. Hence, the Yankees can use him till his hot form lasts. He could also provide a much-needed boost to the Bombers’ struggling outfield in the defense. The outfield depth has ceased to exist as Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Harrison Bader are dealing with injury issues. As a result, bringing him Florial for a short stint would not hurt anyone.
Jake Bauers
Outfielder Jake Bauers, by far, remains the best hitter of the Yankees-affiliated Triple-A team. In 21 appearances, he has slammed nine home runs and 20 RBIs with a batting average of .319. If Jake is not the best fit in the Yankees lineup, then we don’t know who is. Even the skipper, Aaron Boone, mentioned that Jake had caught their attention, and they are monitoring his performance on a daily basis. Hence, we might see Jake Bauers in the 40-man roster sooner than anticipated. The outfielder has made a sudden shift in gears and remains in the form of his life. Hence, the Yankee must make good use of his red-hot form to temporarily boost the offense. The Bombers have struggled to find consistency at first base this season, and Jake could provide a much-needed boost.
Of course, promoting prospects is not without its risks. Young players can struggle with the transition to the majors, and the pressure of playing in New York can be especially daunting. However, the Yankees’ offense has been stagnant for much of the season, and it may be time to take a chance on some of the team’s top prospects. Overall it’s up to the front office to take a final call on the matter. But time is running out for them.
