The New York Yankees will benefit a lot if they sign Blake Snell. It has been a long time since this discussion started. But still, there has been no confirmation. The two-time Cy Young winner is still a free agent. And the Bronx Bombers are still with one ace pitcher in Gerrit Cole. Moreover, the starting pitcher’s lineup looks promising but a bit unpredictable after what happened last year. Carlos Rodon and Nestor Cortes suffered severe injuries that cut their season short. It was a big blow to the Yankees defense. Moreover, the Injured List is one big area of concern for the NY side.

Can the lineup stay healthy for the most part of the year? Only then can the Pinstripes perform at their best. If they are able to do that, then they can actually win the whole thing. Moreover, the Yankees have what it takes to win the World Series this year. Besides the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves, the NY side is a strong contender for the World Series. Now, if the Yankees finally adds a two-time Cy Young winner in their already impressive lineup, the odds will be highly favoring them.

Are The Yankees Planning For Blake Snell Right Before The Opening Day?

Who knows, the Bronx Bombers might still be open for business. They have a good chance to win the American League East. But the Baltimore Orioles have a great team, too. Last year, they dominated the AL East when the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox finished fourth and fifth in that division, respectively. Since then, there has been a link in free agency between Blake Snell and the Yankees. At first, the Yankees offered a six-year deal worth $150 million. But Snell refused because he was looking for a nine-year deal worth $270 million. Recently, Jon Morosi of MLB Network mentioned the market is still very robust for Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery.

Nobody knows where they will go. The Philadelphia Phillies recently signed Zack Wheeler. But it doesn’t really help the Phillies a lot. Hence, Morosi feels the Phillies can try to land Blake Snell. That’s a possibility, as the Yankees landing Snell instead remains a possibility, too. If the NY side lands the former San Diego Padres pitcher, they will have one of the best rotations in the league. However, it is quite unlikely that the Yankees can go ahead with that plan because of the massive tax implications.

Are The Bronx Bombers Waiting For Snell To Lower His Asking Price?

Albeit, there will be massive tax implications, signing Snell might do a lot of good for the 27-time champions. Initially, there was a rumor that Snell and the NY side have a mutual interest to sign a deal. But the two-time Cy Young winner’s asking price has been too high. Moreover, the Pinstripes are still not closing that chapter.

They might still go for Snell if his asking price drops to a degree where the front office is comfortable to agree to a deal. As days keep passing, the asking price sure drops little by little. Moreover, there is no doubt that Snell is one of the top pitchers in baseball. With him in the team, the Yankees will go a lot closer to the World Series.
