The New York Yankees are reportedly getting their first hand at the new MLB rules changes in the ongoing spring training.

Spring training sessions are underway, and teams have started gathering for the upcoming Grapefruit League, which is scheduled to commence from today. Speaking of the New York Yankees, they will face Philadelphia Phillies in the league opener today. Moreover, the Grapefruit league carnival will go on for a month, and the 2023 MLB season opening day will begin just a day later, on March 30.

Meanwhile, the New York Yankees bullpen is grinding hard at the practice session. The players arrived at George Steinbrenner Field in Florida and took part in the workout as well as live practice sessions for one whole week. Further, the roster will take the field today and face the Phillies at BayCare Ballpark in Florida. Moreover, ahead of the game, the players cut short today’s session and went for a team bonding session.

Yankees Getting Used To New MLB Rules

New York Yankees have begun preparations for the 2023 MLB season. This season the Bombers are looking to cross the finish line and clinch the long-awaited world series title. Hence, the club wants to leave no stone unturned and intends to give it all in the training sessions. Just today, the Yankees began preparing for the new set of rules which will be implemented in the upcoming season.

Bronx Bombers manager, Aaron Boone, said they used the help of umpires last three days to understand and get used to the new set of rules. Further, the skipper said that while knowledge is important, field practice will help understand the rules better. Furthermore, as the team prepares to tackle the Phillies, they will look to play under these new rules. The rule changes include a pitch clock, restricted shifts, and bigger bases for the upcoming season.

“Grateful for the umpires that have come out here and helped us out,” said Aaron Boone.

Meanwhile, after grinding for a whole week, the New York Yankees opt to take a day off. Moreover, the team went on to participate in a team bonding session arranged by the front office. Yankees bullpen was divided into two teams, the veterans and the rookies. Both teams clashed in an upscale mini-golf match. Apparently, the idea of the bonding session was to help the players unwind and prepare for the match with a fresh mindset.

For the Yankees, this season holds the utmost importance. After losing out to Astros last season in ALCS, the Yanks intend to cross the finish line this time around. Moreover, the front office has taken every step in the right direction to help the cause. Aaron Judge, the captain, skipped the WBC 2023 to focus on New York Yankees this season. On top of that, a few other players, too, decided to opt out of the World League and prioritize the Yankees. Hence, the team looks focused this season, and we might see the Bombers doing wonders in 2023.
