In order to attain the exact championship-winning machine, Mercedes is now overlooking every area of the W14. The technical engineer Mike Elliott has recently revealed that the engineers in the Brackley factory are altering the aerodynamics, shape, side pods, and even the floors of the car. “Is there any trick that we missed?” Mike Elliott clearly doesn’t want to leave anything before the upcoming weekends come.

After realizing that the new black livery Mercedes W14 is nothing different than last year’s W13 in terms of giving performance, boss Toto Wolff made one thing clear: the car is undergoing the entire concept change process. Wolff, the principal who is a man of morals, who never agrees to copy others, is now apparently ready to follow Red Bull’s design. He is ready to do anything in the name of Victory.

Bahrain Grand Prix is over, and Mercedes made a P5 and P7 behind Red Bull, Aston Martin, and Ferrari. But the last race saw a little upgrade in the W14 that remained a little useful. Lewis Hamilton stayed in 5th position, and Russell jumped on 4th from P7. He clearly remarked on the improvements in the car. Hamilton, too figured out some improvements. So, yes, the upgrades that Mercedes is working on are functioning well!

Mike Elliott Is Looking For A Trick That Will Bring Mercedes On The Top

Toto Wolff has assured fans that there will be no holy cows while rechecking the already existing concepts. Maybe the low-cost budget is making things difficult for the Silver Arrows to bring two entirely new cars. And so, the team is also focusing on making the old concept work. But this is not a time for risk. So, here comes Mike Elliot explaining the approach to changing the existing non-working Mercedes concept.

Team Mercedes Formula One

Well, the answer to what a concept depends upon “are different to different people,” as Mike suggests. But, after the Bahrain Grand Prix, team Mercedes had to accept that they were not where they wanted to be. And with this, Elliott figured out one thing, that is, “We gotta look at all the things that make the car, and we have to work out with what can be done in other ways too. We need to get more performance because the gap in front of us is significant to catch up.”

In a Question/Answer video of Mercedes, Elliott further explained how the team is preparing the new concept. By looking at the aerodynamics, zero pods, and floor geometry, they are trying to find out a trick! Like a magic trick that can lead Mercedes back to where they belong, to the podiums.

The Mechanical Set Ups Are Also Being Overlooked

However, the information coming from the simulation world is also getting considered. With this, they make sure that the aerodynamics part is going in the right direction or not.
What is left now? The Mechanical set-ups? Mike is looking over everything as to what more is there with which we can add performance to the car. Every time the technical head of Mercedes asks when he works on the W14. All that the team wants is “get back to the front and as fast as possible,” Elliott said.

The first thing that any Formula One team should do is, accept reality. Swallow the pride. And Mercedes has done both. So now, a good time may seem possible for the team. Let’s hope for the best.
