Miami Grand Prix on Sunday brought another twist in the race for the Mercedes drivers. The two British drivers have already suffered with a poorly constructed car for a while now. Lewis Hamilton Let George Russell Pass At Miami GP
It is evidently visible that Mercedes are struggling with the mechanics of the car. On many occasions, the team has had to suffer defeat even from the midfielders of the competition. Their assumptions regarding the car have not been paying them well. There is a lot of mishap happening with their technical staff, and some people have swapped places. But the results will take another year to start affecting their poor season. Meanwhile, the drivers do their best on the track to finish in respectable positions.
After having a tough time in the practice races, the Mercedes drivers had a lot of ground to cover in the main event. Both the drivers started way back on the pole but significantly advanced during the race. There was a moment when Lewis had to let George Russell ahead of him because his car had the potential to perform better on Sunday. And Hamilton did let him through without any competition. Doing this act of unselfishness has invited a lot of respect and love from fans for the British driver. Even Toto Wolff was happy with the gesture that Hamilton displayed.
It paid him well as George started from the sixth position and finished well off in the fourth. Meanwhile, Hamiton made a whopping comeback in the race from 13th position to sixth at the end.
Mercedes Has Always Had A Good Pair Of Drivers
Elsewhere, Valtteri Bottas, a former Lewis Hamilton teammate, also had a good relationship with his Mercedes counterpart. And this time, Geroge Russell is also having a good relationship with Hamilton. This kind of relationship among the drivers does help the team to thrive and grab more points.
As of now, Hamilton has 56 points in the champions’ standing, which is 16 more than his teammate. This year it is better for Hamilton to stay ahead of Gerogre than last year. Russell had a great season last year, finishing 4th in the championship standings. Meanwhile, Hamilton finished a disappointing sixth.
