He acknowledged hearing that McLaren’s last major upgrade came in Miami, yet their car has consistently improved, which he recognized as a bold but risky strategy. The concern for Wolff is that while consolidating an older package can work in the short term, they could gain a significant advantage if rivals continue to improve with fresh updates.
Wolff also addressed the impact of aerodynamic research restrictions, which may have helped teams close the gap to Red Bull faster than during Mercedes’ dominant years.
