Lewis Hamilton will no longer be referred to as a Mercedes driver next season as he chose different paths earlier this year. He broke 10 years of massively successful relationship with the Silver Arrows to switch ships to Ferrari. But for now, his focus continues to remain on his last dance.

The seven time world champion has already established that he is not thinking about the iconic Ferrari move just yet. His focus for this season is to finish with Mercedes on a high and also ensure that the team recovers from ongoing struggles. However, Lewis Hamilton is equally guilty of helping potential future rivals.

Mercedes’ woes continue to perpetuate in the third consecutive year of new ground effect regulation changes. While Lewis Hamilton has already made peace with the never-ending struggles and switched to Ferrari for the next season, his heart continues to remain in Brackley. Each weekend, Hamilton turns up with a new experimental setup to figure out things that will make W15 faster than its rivals. His commitment in his final year at Silver Arrows has been impeccable. Interestingly, Lewis recently revealed during the Imola Grand Prix that he is actively involved in Mercedes‘ 2025 season development program to some extent. He added that he is still being welcomed in key meetings at the UK factory and is yet to be phased out completely.

However, Lewis Hamilton does feel guilty at times. As a soon-to-be Ferrari driver, he understands that perhaps he shouldn’t be helping Mercedes improve for the 2025 season. But at the same time, Hamilton loves to work with the engineering team at Mercedes and wants to see the Silver Arrows succeed regardless of his presence or absence. “I am massively respectful. And I’m here trying to help this team progress this year and also into next year,” Lewis said at Imola. While the British driver is being respectful, it remains to be seen what Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur will make of the new information. Ferrari poured buckets of money on Hamilton to secure his services. And the last thing they would expect is for their driver to be helping a direct rival get better and improve. Yet, Vasseur is yet to react to Lewis’ confession.

Mercedes were amongst the long list of teams that introduced a huge set of upgrades for the Imola Grand Prix. However, the renovated circuit didn’t help most teams, including Mercedes, to fetch the desired results as they finished P6 and P7. And Lewis Hamilton confessed that the upgrades didn’t work.

Lewis Hamilton, during post race interview, explained that the upgrade introduced was a very small step and didn’t necessarily helped with the lap time. However, the team continues to gather more data and understand the behaviour of the car in different situations and track temperatures. But for now, Hamilton is unsure of Mercedes will be able to compete for the front row in near future.
