Max Verstappen Does Not Count Mercedes As One Of The Main Competitors For Red Bull In The 2023 Season! Why?

Max Verstappen is on the verge of enlisting himself on the elite list of drivers of all time. The Dutchman is preparing to win the world championship for three consecutive years. After a long time, Red Bull has got back their hold on the F1 title. All thanks to Max Verstappen, who has made Christian Horner and the team\’s dream come true. It is not like Red Bull never dominated the Formula One Grid. Before Mercedes started dominating in 2014 with the F1 Legend, Sir Lewis Hamilton, it was Red Bull that had firm hegemony of Formula One.

However, in 2009 a tremendous German racer joined the Red Bull team. His name was Sebastian Vettel. With Vettel, Red Bull won four driver\’s championship titles in a row from 2010 to 2013. The victory in 2010 made Vettel the youngest World Champion in Formula One Motorsport. But later, times changed. And for six years, the Silver Arrows had complete hegemony on the driver\’s and constructor\’s titles, with Hamilton in the driver\’s seat. Finally, in 2021, Red Bull had their taste of championship success with the Dutchman after a long wait of eight years. It looks like glory will keep coming for Red Bull back-to-back again.    

Although there is no stopping Max Verstappen and team Red Bull, the current double-time champion feels it will be more challenging than the last time. Despite what happened last time, Red Bull is not taking the Silver Arrows threat lightly. Mercedes had the worst season they could imagine. Lewis Hamilton could not get a single-race win last season. This was the first time it happened that Hamilton had to go through a season without a single race win. But now, the Red Bull ace is sure that Mercedes is going to make a solid comeback in the upcoming season.

Max Verstappen Is Not Taking Mercedes Lightly

Media experts and fans are flooding social media with doubts if the seven-time champ can come back strong to win the coveted and the ultimate eighth title. According to Max Verstappen, Mercedes is a strong team, and they have proved it for a long time. At the Red Bull\’s launch event yesterday, he added, \”it depends on the car. If these guys solve the problem they faced last year, it will be tough to beat them. Last season halfway, it looked like they had fixed the problem. But again, it looked like they have not.\” Max feels Mercedes have a great team of drivers, especially the seven-time champion, Hamilton.

The Dutchman believes that if Hamilton gets a fast car that does not cause much trouble, he will be a significant threat to Verstappen\’s wish for a third title win in a row. Max Verstappen emphasized the factor of having a fast car. He said, \”All these guys are great drivers. All they need is a fast car, and they have the talent to become the world champion. Be it Leclerc for Ferrari, Lando for McLaren, and the Mercedes boys, Hamilton and Russell.\”

Having a fast car solves half of the problem when it comes to the driver. Then the racer cannot afford to make any mistakes, which will create added pressure. Verstappen said he had not seen the new RB19 car, but he has complete faith in his team that they will provide him with a fast car as he wished for.
