Lakers

The 2022 season for the Los Angeles Lakers has been a wee bit like a roller coaster ride. After initial struggles, the team now looks to be picking up some pace. Meanwhile, unlike the Lakers\’ performance this season, one thing that has been consistent is the trade rumors regarding the team. Whether it be LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, or Anthony Davis, there have been trade rumors about all of them at one point or another.

Meanwhile, the trade that the Lakers finally did isn\’t one many people anticipated. Late Wednesday, Los Angles Lakers let Matt Ryan go to free up space in the squad. The move came shortly after the Lakers\’ victory over Portland Blazers.

Los Angles Lakers Free Matt Ryan!

The LA Lakers defeated the Portland Blazers on Wednesday night thanks to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Meanwhile, the young Lakers star Matt Ryan was on the court for two minutes in the game. However, what many people didn\’t know, was those Ryan\’s final two minutes for the team. Soon after the game on Wednesday, the team let go of the young shooting guard.

The Athletic\’s Shams Charania broke the news that the Lakers have decided to free up some space in their squad and freed Matt Ryan. Because Ryan\’s deal with the Lakers wasn\’t guaranteed, he would have been the first player the Lakers would have had to dismiss to make room on the roster. This is an odd decision considering that he is only one of two L.A. rotation players who shoot above 38 percent from outside the arc. For the foreseeable future, the Lakers will have a vacant roster position, giv ing them the freedom to sign or deal with other players.

However, as of now, there are no details about for which player did the Lakers go through all the troubles. Meanwhile, some are claiming it could be Indian Pacers, Myles Turner. But can\’t know anything for sure till there is some official confirmation.

Matt Ryan

Meanwhile, Ryan has only ever appeared in one NBA game for five minutes before this one. After camp, he narrowly made it past roster cuts and onto Los Angeles\’ final squad. The effects of the coronavirus pandemic caused Ryan, 25, to go undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft and to miss the 2020–21 season.

Ryan signed a two-way deal with the Boston Celtics in February 2022. He has played for both the Maine Celtics and Boston Celtics in the G League. Matt Ryan joined the Los Angeles Lakers on a non-guaranteed contract after competing for the Celtics in the Summer League this past offseason. This season, he appeared in 12 games, including two minutes on Wednesday in a win against the Portland Trail Blazers.
