Los Angeles Lakers Set To Cut Loose Malik Beasly & Mo Bamba

Los Angeles Lakers need to chalk out plans so that they can get the team ready for the next season. The squad revived their journey in the current season after the roster faced all sorts of issues, as they had no balance and too many injury concerns. At the time, the Lakers did not look like they would make the postseason. But they did eventually. Albeit, the turnaround did not happen overnight. Rob Pelinka, General Manager of the Los Angeles Lakers, made some pretty good deals in order to reframe the roster, which would likely help the leaders of the squad.

And the players who came in before the trade deadline in February really helped in restoring balance. Now, the front office, along with the Lakers fans, will hope they don’t let go of some of those key players who came in February in the offseason. But the problem is the cap space of the Los Angeles Lakers. They have the top two players, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, for the next season. Their contract ends next year. Moreover, Mo Bamba and Malik Beasley might be cut loose in the offseason, as per recent reports.

Will Lakers Let Malik Beasley And Mo Bamba Go In The Offseason?

Apparently, the Lakers’ agreement for Max Christie and Jarred Vanderbilt will end next year. Moreover, D’Angelo Russell, Dennis Schroder, and Lonnie Walker IV are their unrestricted free agents. On the other hand, Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura are restricted free agents. However, after the recent rumors, it is speculated that Mo Bamba and Malik Beasley have even less chance of making the next season for the Lakers. Apparently, Beasley has a club option, and Bamba got a non-guaranteed contract. Hence, the front office may try to give Bamba and Beasley up to keep as many of those other players in the team for the next year.

It is already expected that Mo Bamba could not play the whole season with an injury. Moreover, LA Times’ Dan Woike believes there is a real lack of optimism regarding Bamba’s stay with the Lakers. According to the contract savants, Spotrac, he will get $10.3 million on June 29. Moreover, the Lakers will have to make a decision on both Bamba and Malik Beasley by June 29 itself. Woike also says that Beasley has a $16.5 million contract. But the Lakers are thinking about his contract as a tradeable expiring one. They may keep him as a valuable floor spacer. But out of all these players available for the Lakers to trade, Beasley and Bamba seem to be the first to go.

Beasley Left A Thank You Note For The LA Fans And The Front Office

On the other hand, Malik Beasley, like every outsider, is unsure of his stay with the Lakers. Hence, he has already shared a message with the Lakers Faithful for his amazing welcome and warm stay. As the note stated, “Thank You for the opportunity, Los Angeles Lakers. We had our highs and lows but were able to do the thing we came to do. It was changing the culture. Three of us, mainly me, D’Lo, and Vando, changed the culture.”

Beasley, in his Thank You note, mentioned the value of D’Angelo Russell and Jarred Vanderbilt in the team’s journey throughout the current season. Eventually, the LA side reached the playoffs. However, they came pretty close to winning their 18th title. But Denver Nuggets blew them away in four games of the Western Conference Finals. Hence, all of a sudden, the LA side has only one thing to be concerned about; what happens in the offseason.
