Anthony Davis led the Los Angeles Lakers brilliantly in the current season to reach the Western Conference Finals, even though he has never been able to play for more than 42 minutes a game. This current year, he missed twenty games on the trot due to a stress injury in late last December. Even coach Darvin Ham had a strategy not to overuse AD to keep his feet injury-free.
Despite all these problems, Davis was able to guide a comparatively inexperienced side without LeBron James to make the top-ten finish. James did return at the fag end of the regular season. But the top two stars, even together, could not help the team win another title. The same duo helped the Los Angeles Lakers win its 17th title in the 2019-20 season. But since 2020, they have not played as well as the Lakers Faithful would have hoped. And that is why some mega off-season trade speculations are coming up for Davis.
Is It A Good Idea If The Lakers Trade Anthony Davis To The Bulls?
After a humiliating 0-4 loss in the WCF, the Lakers’ front office might make some tough calls. Moreover, there is a chance that they may trade Anthony Davis to his hometown franchise, Chicago Bulls. Apparently, the Chicago Franchise had a terrible season this year. They finished as the 10th seed of the Eastern Conference. The team could not make the playoffs. Hence, like the Lakers, even the Chicago Bulls are looking to make some significant changes to their roster.
Meanwhile, the Lakers don’t have much cap space due to Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Hence, it would be a risky but ideal decision to trade Anthony Davis to Chicago Bulls. The Fadeaway’s Lee Tran explained that the ideal trade between the Lakers and the Bulls would be Anthony Davis in exchange for Zach LaVine and Dalen Terry. Since the Bulls are AD’s hometown franchise, he would easily be the number one option in their roster. Lee Tran further mentioned, “Chicago Bulls can retool around Anthony Davis and DeMar DeRozan if they trade Zach LaVine.”
Lakers May Not Want To Trade AD
However, it is a highly unlikely scenario that the Lakers may want to trade Anthony Davis after all they have come through as a team and a star player. He helped the team become the best defensive team of the season until Denver Nuggets ripped them apart. Also, this year AD has broken multiple records of the Lakers, especially records that belonged to Shaquille O’Neal.
Despite James’s unavailability for a month due to a tendon injury, the Lakers were able to make the postseason. It was mainly because of Anthony Davis. He had been the anchor of the team’s defense and the spearhead of the team’s offense. There is no player without any flaws. It is even true for AD as well. People from fans and experts criticize him because of his weak physique. Anthony Davis has never been able to play the whole season. He could never play more than 75 games in the regular season.
