Lewis Hamilton Shocked To See Mercedes Top The FP2 Timesheet! Expecting More In Main Race

Sir Lewis Hamilton is leaving Mercedes after the upcoming season is over. He will embark on a new chapter of his F1 career when he will don the iconic “Red uniform.” The whole F1 world is waiting for that match made in heaven. It is the most successful team and the most decorated racer in F1 coming together. But before fans look that far ahead, they must also keep in mind that there’s one more season to go. And things may not have changed that much from last season. Perhaps Max Verstappen and Red Bull will still dominate the grid like the past couple of years.

However, Lewis Hamilton wants to end his epic collaboration with Mercedes on a positive note. He is focusing hard on the 2024 season. Can the Silver Arrows help Hamilton win a title one last time? That would be an epic end to the most successful team-driver collaboration in the history of the sport. Lately, Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes shocked the F1 World as they topped the timesheet of the second practice session in Bahrain. It is still a mystery about how Max Verstappen finished at P6 in FP2. That’s why Hamilton mentioned that they should not get ahead of themselves.

Formula 1 quoted Lewis Hamilton saying that FP1 surprised them. That morning, it was very windy. Hence, Hamilton said perhaps it was a difficult session for every driver. Last week, during practice in the pre-season testing, the track was very different. Anyhow, the seven-time champion mentioned they were feeling okay but did not know where they stood on the C2 tire. Moreover, Hamilton mentioned that in FP2, Mercedes made some improvements with the W15 car in Bahrain. Finally, the great Briton set the fastest lap time of 1:30.374 seconds. He was two-tenths ahead of his teammate George Russell.

Moreover, he was over half a second adrift from Max Verstappen, the reigning champion who finished in P6. Anyway, the FP2 result really was a shock to the team, as per Hamilton. But he knows that they can’t get ahead of themselves. Moreover, the seven-time champion mentioned they should keep their head down and just continue to work on their setup. Finally, Hamilton mentioned that in the long run performance they are nowhere near Red Bull. But they were a lot closer. Hence, Hamilton said the Silver Arrows have some work to do there.

And while approaching the corners, Hamilton stated that he now got a better feel for the car. Moreover, the seven-time champion revealed that there are areas that have been “Fixed and improved.” The previous two cars did not feel like a race car at all.

But the W15 car seems to be different. Hence, they have got a good platform, feels Hamilton. Now, all they need to do is, “Keep our heads down and just keep on chasing.” Finally, Lewis mentioned that new car presents new challenges of understanding the car and how to get the best out of it.
