In 2023, when Red Bull was celebrating the season’s victorious beginning, Mercedes was assuring its drivers of providing a good car in the future. Lewis Hamilton once again is seemingly getting defeated by Max Verstappen in the world championship. Following this, fans expect Hamilton to be disappointed and frustrated with his team. They want him to outburst on Mercedes and eventually switch if he is not getting the car he signed the contract for. But the seven-time world champion is giving “mixed reactions,” according to a former F1 world champion. Sometimes Hamilton shows his anger for the team, and sometimes his love. And this behavior of the Briton is getting severely criticized.

Lewis Hamilton now has only one goal left: winning the eighth world championship. But looks like it is not possible to attain his ultimate goal while being with Mercedes. The German squad has been failing to build strong F1 cars since 2022. Last year, the entire season remained victorious for Red Bull. But for Mercedes, it was a big disappointment with just one single win, that too through Geroge Russell’s courtesy. Hamilton, who was the F1 King during the turbo hybrid era, did not win even a single race since the 2021 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.

The new Mercedes W14 is nothing similar to the dominant Red Bull RB19 car. With this, Lewis Hamilton is facing another challenging season in his career-ending years. The CEO of the team, Toto Wolff, concedes that Mercedes chose the wrong direction to develop the car. On the other hand, Hamilton emerged to reveal that last year he suggested the team do something. Apparently, he advised Mercedes of an idea to build the car, which was ignored. Clearly, Hamilton was a little frustrated with the fact that Mercedes “didn’t listen to me.”

Meanwhile, the 1996 F1 world champion, Damon Hill, came out to criticize Lewis Hamilton. Hill pointed out that after the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Briton was heard on the radio saying, “We have got a lot of work to do, guys. I m behind you; I will support you“. After finishing fifth in the season opener, the seven-time world champion driver was expected to be a little disappointed, but he was rather the “positive light” for the team. It was great indeed. But Hill finds it a mixed reaction when later Hamilton said, “I warned the team, I told them. But they did not listen.”

You [Lewis Hamilton] can’t be 100 percent supportive and criticize the team [at the same time],” said Damon Hill. Undoubtedly, Hamilton is disappointed as he is well aware of what is coming ahead. Although still, he is confused if he needs to be outraged or supportive of Mercedes.

In addition, Hill figured out several obstacles for Mercedes in the path of their upgrade and W14 evolution project. He agrees with the technical experts who claim that Mercedes will face the cost cap low budget issue. There will also be weighted aerodynamic research rules, which the former F1 champion thinks is hard for the Silver Arrows to overcome. The first success is finding out the problem and where exactly they went wrong. But here, if in case Mercedes manages to find the grey area of the car, they will still not be able to fix it within the low-cost cap. According to Damon Hill, Mercedes needs a completely new car, but they can’t produce it. So ultimately, there is doom for the team.
