However, the 37-year-old is entering the season hoping to help the Lakers recover from a disastrous 2021–22 season and return to the playoffs. During that time, a combination of injuries and subpar play derailed the franchise\’s hopes.

At the team\’s press meet, James said that maintaining fitness would be his focus this season. In March, LeBron James passed Karl Malone for second place in the NBA\’s regular season point scoring statistics during a contest against the Washington Wizards. He is now trailing Abdul-Jabbar, who has the most regular season points in history. However, James said that he is not fixated on breaking Abdul-record Jabbar\’s set by the Lakers icon.

James pointed out how he is aiming to prioritize fitness this year as he is in the advanced stage of his career. LeBron stated, \”Just being available, that\’s what\’s most important.\” The Akron Hammer also admitted that certain injuries are difficult to prevent.
