LeBron James recently completed 20 years in NBA. In the past two decades, King James has broken and achieved numerous records to his name. Just a week ago, James became the only player after Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to have scored 38,000 career points. Moreover, the healthy 38-year-old is on his way to surpassing Kareem’s all-time high record in the history of the NBA.

Tonight, the Lakers had a game against their city rivals, LA Clippers. LeBron James carried the weight of the team on his shoulders and scored 46 points at the end of the 4th quarter. The Lakers, however, lost the game by just 2 points, but James managed to achieve a personal feat. James has joined the elite list featuring the late Kobe Bryant and became the only second player to have achieved this record.

Another 40+ Point Game Helps LeBron James Break Yet Another Record

LA Lakers, struggling at the 12th position in the Western Conference table, played against the LA Clippers tonight. The Clippers derailed the Lakers in the first half by taking a lead of 23 points. The Lakers, as usual, had a cracking comeback into the second half but failed to close the game. And that marked the 26th loss of the purple and gold this season. However, LeBron James swayed everyone with yet another classic performance.

LeBron James scored a total of 46 points against the Clippers, which includes nine three-pointers. Moreover, this is James’ 5th 40+ point game of the season. Prior to this, King James had scored a 40+ point game against every team in the NBA, barring the LA Clipped. And after tonight, LeBron James has become the only player after his former teammate, Kobe Bryant, to have had a 40+ point game against every opposition in the whole of the NBA.

The one thing that has annoyed the Lakers fans most this season is the team’s inability to close games in the final seconds. They have lost 3-4 games with the closest margins due to a lack of vigilance. The same story continued tonight as well against the Clippers. The Lakers lost by 2 points with a scoreline of 113-115. As a result, the team now slips one position and moves to the 13th spot on the Western Conference points table.

Despite LeBron James hard fought 46 points, his teammates could not even breach the 20-point mark. Russell Westbrook was the second-highest scorer after LeBron, with 17 points. Certainly, James is missing a solid partner at the other end. Hopefully, Anthony Davis‘ return at the end of the week will end support woes of James. For now, the playoff berth looks way far from reach, and they need a miracle (in a literal sense) to uplift them from this grave mess.
