The Los Angeles Lakers have been something else in recent weeks compared to their start of the season. The fans would agree that this season has been nothing sort of a roller coaster. But they have found stability in the past few weeks, even if they miss Anthony Davis. All the credit goes to the 38-year-old LeBron James. The Lakers forward James has been nothing but a sheer force of nature to lead his team to consecutive wins. Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook has also been a great help alongside the big man.
The Lakers are 3-1 in their last four games, losing only to the Denver Nuggets on Monday Night. Although LA has made a turn of events, there is still no guarantee of the playoffs. However, the team has surely corrected their acts and is now walking the path of salvation. But the Lakers are very unpredictable when it comes to performing consistently. Meanwhile, many experts make calculated assumptions about whether the Lakers will play in the postseason.
The Lakers Chances For The Playoffs Are Slim
According to Robert Horry, securing 30 victories in their next 41 games will be enough for the Lakers to secure a spot in the playoffs. He emphasized that the team needs to remain united and continue to excel in order to secure more wins. Horry also highlighted the importance of performing well in home games as a crucial factor in their success. LA has been decent at home, winning 10 out of their 18 games. However, they have not been the same in the away games.
It looks like there are many teams that are declining for Hollywood to give space on the top seeds. LA is closely trailing behind the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference of the NBA. But Hollywood has a record of 19-22, while the Warriors sit at 20-20, currently holding the 6th seed. The return of Steph Curry to the Warriors’ lineup may pose a challenge for the Lakers. However, there are still many teams within reach of the Lakers in the standings if they increase their wins. Teams like Phoenix Suns and LA Clippers constantly decline due to inside problems.
Anthony Davis Is The Key To The Playoffs
There are many teams ahead of the Lakers. But the reason remains the slow start at the beginning of the season. However, LA has been a highly unpredictable team capable of pulling everything. Even Shannon Sharpe believes that LA can become a scary team if Anthony Davis makes a comeback.
As of now, LeBron James has been phenomenal, scoring back-to-back 40 points and nothing less than 30 at least. Combining his powers with Davis would give LeBron more time to recover and the Lakers more stability. But there has been no evidence that Anthony will return with the same form.
