LA Lakers are now officially the third worst-performing team in the western conference table. Having ranked 13th on the table, the Lakers had an awful start to the season. And that is hurting them now as they fail to move up the table despite five consecutive wins. Moreover, the one thing that has hurt the purple and gold the most this season is the injury concerns.
Anthony Davis has been missing in action since mid-December. He sustained a foot injury and is still recovering. Moreover, Austin Reaves and Lonnie Walker IV, too, received blows toward the end of the year and have been MIA. As a result, LeBron James is the lone warrior trying to carry the team to the finish line. However, clearly, he is struggling. Meanwhile, the Lakers head coach, Darvin Ham, recently revealed the team’s future plan ahead of the mid-season.
Lakers Will Focus On Getting The Injured Guys Back, Reveals Darvin Ham
One of the prime reasons for the Lakers debacle is repeated injury concerns. Three of their starting players have been sitting on the bench for over a month. Meanwhile, Darvin Ham spoke on the issue and said the Lakers team is fully committed to getting these guys back healthy as soon as possible. Moreover, Ham added that a couple of guys are recovering well and can expect to make a comeback sooner than estimated.
Darvin Ham further spoke about the club’s trade strategy. Ham said that, as of now, he could not pinpoint any specific player that they have their eyes set on. Their first priority remains the existing roster. Moreover, Ham did admit that a guy with good shooting ability and average will help the team. However, he concluded by saying that the existing Lakers’ lineup is coming together nicely. Moreover, once the injured guys step back on the court, the team will get back to the winning ways.
“I can’t really pinpoint what we need at this point,” said Darvin Ham
LeBron James Clocks 48 Points, LA Beat Houston Rockets
After LeBron James’ historic career moment of scoring 38,000 points ended up on a losing note, the team stepped back onto the court to face the Houston Rockets. King James swayed in his magic and clocked 48 points in total. Despite injury concerns, James looked perfectly healthy and dominated the game. That eventually led the Lakers to a convincing win over the Rockets by 140-132. Moreover, this is the Lakers’ 20th win of the season out of the 44 games played.
Despite the win, the Lakers stand 13th on the Western Conference table. The playoff race looks tedious now. The losing streak during the initial moments of the season is hurting the Lakers in the long run. Hence, Darvin Ham and co. will have to chalk up a workable plan post the mid-season. Moreover, the club needs Anthony Davis back on the court as soon as possible.
