The Los Angeles Lakers front office will already be looking for their future players as the season comes to an end. There were some players that the team had their eyes on but could not get them. One of them was Kyrie Irving, LeBron James’ former Cleveland teammate before coming to LA. However, the Mavericks snatched him before the Lakers even had the opportunity to secure him. But it looks like nothing good came to Irving after his move to the Mavericks. They failed to qualify for the postseason finishing the season in the 11th position.
LeBron James was very highly of rejoining his teammate as he was very vocal about his performances. The two were a great paring at Cavs and even won the title together in the past. And the history could have repeated itself if he had come to the Lakers in mid-February. But as usual, nothing goes in favor of LA under many circumstances. However, the team is on a good track as they are playing in the playoffs after a disastrous season start. And for the upcoming season, they can have a replacement for Kyrie if they will not be able to land him.
Trae Young’s Arrival To The Lakers Next Season
The 24-year-old NBA star can be connected with the Lakers if they can not find a way with Irving. There are various rumors and reports that suggest that it could be a possibility. Although it is too soon to put the finger on it, the Lakers are in dire need of a quality guard. They expected a good output from D’Angelo Russell, but he has had a hard time performing consistently in the team. Moreover, they have already missed Irving once before, and they might likely miss him again.
Young has been a crucial figure for Atlanta Hawks. He has helped them reach 7th place in the Eastern Conference, making him an integral part. But his alliance with Klutch Sports and the Lakers’ interest in him is pointing to his transfer to LA next season. However, the Hawks would be more interested in putting him up in the market to make some profit out of him. All this anticipation from the team will build up into a big drama next year. But if Kyrie does not end up in the Lakers next year, what are his options?
Where Will Kyrie Go?
The 31-year-old wants to win as big as possible, and looking at his caliber, he would want to go to the best team. He came to the Mavericks because there was no pressure on him to make extraordinary efforts. But at the same time, he won nothing with them. Instead fell to 11th position from 3rd in the Western Conference.
The possible options for next year are joining his current team only with free agency. Apart from that, their various teams would love to have him on board. Phoenix Suns are one of the teams, but their project will take some time to launch. And the Lakers are more than open to talking his trade after Russell fails to compete in that backcourt.
