LA Lakers Desperately Need Anthony Davis To Be At His Absolute Best To Qualify For The Playoffs

Anthony Davis got traded to Los Angeles Lakers in July 2019 after staying with the New Orleans Pelicans for a long time. After he joined the Lakers, it did not take too long to become an integral part of the team. Then the Brow won his first NBA championship in 2020 with his new franchise. It was evident that the pair of AD and the King was the biggest power of the Lakers. However, as fans hoped they would carry the momentum in the following seasons, it did not happen. Instead, the team was poured with injury concerns. Like last season the King missed several games, leading the team to miss the postseason.

Anthony Davis tried his best to carry the team on his shoulders as far as he could take them. But it was not enough. The Lakers are finding themselves in a very similar scenario at present. After all the drama with the Russell Westbrook trade and new quality recruits, the team finally had a roster they could rely on. The thing that was missing from the start of the season in the roster of the Lakers was balance. Finally, filling up those missing gaps was complete. The team looked ready to turn things around, with more than twenty games were remaining in the regular season. However, it was until everything fell apart again.

Why Anthony Davis Is The Only Remaining Hope For The Lakers?

As the most essential player of the group, LeBron James will stay out again for two weeks. The most promising new recruit, D’Angelo Russell, missed a few games due to sprained ankle. In such a scenario, the Lakers are depending on Anthony Davis to display the best level of his game for the remaining matches. Anyway, the Lakers are lucky to have an easy final phase of the season.

As per Tankathon.com, the Lakers are the third among the teams having the easiest remaining schedule in the current season. The coach Darvin Ham has made it clear that he won’t put too much stress on Anthony Davis. As AD has not been playing two games on two nights in a row, it is vital to give his feet some rest. Hence, the Lakers will miss the services of Anthony Davis occasionally in the ongoing season.

But the fans will hope that AD will make the best use of whatever and whenever he gets the chance to be on the line-up. It is true that in his four years with the Lakers, Anthony Davis tasted success. However, after 2020 it is high time to bring back the glory and make a name for himself as a player of this great franchise. AD is only 29 years old and has a long way to go.

But if he keeps missing out on games due to injuries so frequently. It would be very hard to justify his true potential. The Lakers need Anthony Davis to do what he does best and maybe even more than that if he can. AD needs to keep the hopes alive for the team until Russell and James come back fit and fine.
