George Steinbrenner Field is all ready to host the New York Yankees, who begin their spring training for the 2023 MLB season. The catchers and pitchers have already started to line up, and the rest of the bullpen will join the camp in the coming days. Going with the schedule, the spring training matches will begin in a week’s time, and the Yankees will play their first game against the Phillies on February 25, 2023.

   

The New York Yankees are coming in the 2023 season after a humiliating defeat in the 2022 ALCS. The Bombers were favourites for the championship title last year after registering record 99 wins. However, the team collapsed completely against the Houston Astros and tasted yet another heartbreaking defeat. Hence, this year, the team is ready to break the shambles.

The exciting part of the MLB regular season has arrived. The Spring Training. This is a time when the players assemble after a long off-season break and warm up for the upcoming challenges. The fans love this time as they get to see their heroes back in action after a long break. On top of that, the bullpen goes through a lot of changes in the off-season, and the fans are always excited to watch the newest acquisitions in action.

The Yankees have started assembling in the club’s base field in Tampa, Florida. And as per reports, pitcher Gerrit Cole and the team’s latest acquisition, Carlos Rodon, were the first pitchers to arrive. Most of the Yankees’ defence is here, and the rest will join in a day or two. On the other hand, Yankees catcher, Jose Trevino, posted a tweet before arriving for spring training. The post contained a video featuring Jose wherein Trevino is seen hitting a homer. Further, Jose captioned the video, “It’s about that time, Yankees”. The tweet is being widely shared online, and the fans are loving it.

New York Yankees Begin Spring Training

The George Steinbrenner Field has crowded already, has the New York Yankees bullpen has started arriving. The pitchers and catchers have begun training. Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon were seen together for the first time since the latter’s arrival. Rodon signed a six-year contract worth $162 million with the Bombers this season. Apart from the pitching duo, DJ LeMahieu, Luis Severino and Clay Holmes were also seen in action.

On the other hand, the Yankees’ newest captain, Aaron Judge, joined the camp a little early. The slugger practised a few hits and did some mandatory workouts. However, after a few hits, the slugger picked up a glove and did a few rounds on first base. The move confused the fans as Judge being an outfielder, has never marked his presence in the infield. But, the Yanks’ manager, Aaron Boone, confirmed that Judge was just having some fun and had no plans of moving infield any time soon.
