The New York Yankees had a terrible 2023 season. They disappointed their fans with one of the worst seasons in their franchise history. Moreover, the NY side failed to make the postseason. They finished the season with a terrible 82-80 record. It was their worst season in the last 30 years. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers finished with the second-worst batting average. They were only better than the nine-time World Series champions, the Oakland Athletics. But the front office realized they have work to do on their offense and outfield. Moreover, they had only one superstar hitter in 2023. That was risky and the last season taught them well.

Aaron Judge hurt his toe after a freak accident at the Los Angeles Dodgers fence. Then, the captain missed 35 games on the trot. That was a big blow to the NY side and very hard to recover from. Moreover, it was a wake-up call for the Yankees to make some significant changes this offseason. And that’s exactly what they did. The Yankees brought reinforcements to every department. Moreover, after all the changes the NY side made this winter, they look like a real contender for the World Series in 2024. But the question is if their offseason is over.

Have The Yankees Made All The Changes They Hoped For With Their Measured Approach?

Clearly, the Los Angeles Dodgers had the best offseason in the league. They are pretty consistent every year in terms of making the playoffs. Then, they signed Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto while spending more than a billion dollars on their payroll. On the other hand, the NY Yankees showed a “Measured Approach” this winter. Nevertheless, they had a great offseason, too. After a terrible season when all hopes were lost, the Bronx Bombers came up with this brilliant plan. They added Juan Soto, the best hitter in baseball. Automatically, it bolstered their offense, and signing Alex Verdugo and Trent Grisham was key to boosting their outfield.

Now, Grisham can provide defensive strength in the outfield as well. On the other hand, when the whole world was asking the Yankees to go all-in for Blake Snell, the front office signed Marcus Stroman for a two-year deal worth $37 million. This move shows how the Yankees value a calming presence with a veteran status in their midst. That’s the approach the front office had this winter. And it might just work in their favor. Moreover, Aaron Boone said if these guys stay healthy, then they can be really good.

As per an Essentially Sports article, the New York Yankees have more or less fulfilled their offseason aspirations. Now, the question is if they can fulfill their championship aspirations in 2024. Moreover, the Yankees GM has calculated the front office’s steps for the winter very well. It has allowed the fans to be a bit more optimistic than before. The front office has answered the questions they had after the last season this offseason.

Now, only time can say if their offseason moves will yield the result they want. The starting pitching department might look a little less deep than expected. But the roster looks pretty balanced anyway. However, if there are any more moves up, Brian Cashman’s sleeves are up to be seen.
