According to an MLB analyst, the New York Yankees plans to groom Anthony Volpe to take over Aaron Judge as the face of the organization.

New York Yankees introduced Aaron Judge as the face of the organization after the former signed a nine-year extension contract. Judge had a record-breaking 2022 season wherein he surpassed the record of scoring the most home runs in a single MLB season. Hence, the season rewards him with a lucrative contract, one of the most expensive in the league’s history.

While the slugger stays with the club for nine more years, the fans are intrigued to know who could succeed Judge as the face of the Yankees post Aaron’s retirement. Meanwhile, an MLB analyst had an interesting take on the topic and revealed one prospect who the Yanks could potentially groom as the next face of the whole Yanks organization.

Meanwhile, Anthony Volpe is among the most highly endorsed prospects in the New York Yankees farm system. He was selected by the Yankees in the first round of the 2019 MLB draft. Since then, he has been making waves with his impressive performances in the minor league. In 2022, Volpe played for the Somerset Patriots, wherein he had a breakout season. The Shortstop hit .249 with 21 home runs and 65 RBIs in 110 games.

Volpe’s success on the field is not the only reason he is considered a top prospect for the Yankees. He is also known for his strong work ethic and his commitment to improving his game. The shortstop has worked tirelessly to improve his hitting and fielding, and his dedication has paid off in his performance. Moreover, Volpe has the potential to become a fan favorite in New York. Hence, an MLB analyst feels the Yanks could groom Anthony Volpe as the face of the organization along with Aaron Judge in the near future, possibly after 2024.

“The Yankees envision Volpe as a face of their franchise along with Aaron Judge in the near future,” says Randy Miller.

Volpe To Contest For Starting Shortstop Position

MLB ranked Anthony Volpe as the number 1 shortstop prospect for the 2023 MLB season. Hence, the fans are excited to see the 21-year-old’s impressive throws. At the same time, there is no guarantee that Volpe will live up to the hype. Baseball is a challenging sport, and many top prospects fail to make it to the major leagues. However, Volpe’s talent and dedication make him an exciting prospect. Hence, the Yankees fans will be watching closely at the spring training.

Anthony Volpe will have a fair chance to compete for the starting shortstop role along with Oswald Peraza and Isiah Kiner-Falefa. However, the chances look bleak at the moment considering the front office’s fondness towards Peraza. But Volpe could come in the mix mid-season to manage the workload of the regular players. Overall, Volpe is most likely to make it into the majors this season.
