“Haven’t Reached Peak Yet,” Helmut Marko Warns F1 Rivals As Red Bull Aims To Unleash Max Verstappen’s True Potential

Red Bull dominated the grid for two straight years. They are only getting better and stronger. Last year, the Austrian team won 17 races. But this season, the Milton Keynes team won 21 Grand Prix. If they had won the Singaporean Grand Prix this year, then they could have a 100% strike rate. But Christian Horner’s team missed their chance this season. However, they proved that they’ve adjusted to the cost cap rules better than any other team. Anyway, Helmut Marko believes Max Verstappen has not yet reached his peak. The Red Bull advisor warned other teams for even bigger dominance in 2024.

This year, Max Verstappen has already won 54 Grand Prix. The Dutchman currently finds himself at number three on the all-time list. There are only two drivers ahead of Max Verstappen at present. They are the two seven-time champions, Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher. The great German driver has 91 GP wins, whereas Hamilton has 103. However, the Mercedes star is still active. But he has been winless since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. On the other hand, Max Verstappen has won 44 Grand Prix since 2021.

Recently, Helmut Marko, in an interview with Sky Sports Germany, mentioned that Max has improved in all departments. As per Marko, the will to win differentiates Max from other racers. The Red Bull’s advisor believes Max can instantly increase his speed whenever the situation demands him to. For instance, a penalty is around the corner, and Verstappen will increase the lead by 10 seconds. Moreover, Max can almost read the tires. He’s too decisive about tire management.

In Abu Dhabi, Marko said, Max went a step further than what others expected him to. That’s the reason why Marko says Max Verstappen has not reached his peak yet. However, Marko identified Verstappen’s weakness as well. The Red Bull advisor said Max can become a bit impatient when the car doesn’t perform as well as he expected. But Marko has full confidence on the Red Bull star that he’ll learn to handle himself well eventually.

When teams like Mercedes and Ferrari struggle to maintain consistency in the season, the other powerhouse dominates the grid with style. But what if they could do a lot better than what they did this season? Generally, fans would say that it is impossible because Red Bull has been too strong for the others this season. Moreover, the RB19 car has been among the fastest cars there ever has been in the F1 Motorsport. Even Christian Horner knows that. The Red Bull’s boss mentioned the RB19 car will go down in history as the greatest F1 car ever. He sure has logic behind his statement.

This year, Red Bull matched the record of McLaren back in 1988. They won all the races except one like McLaren did back in 1988. Moreover, Red Bull broke McLaren’s most consecutive wins record in F1. On the other hand, Max Verstappen broke the former Red Bull champion Sebastian Vettel’s record of most consecutive wins. Hence, it seems like records were meant for Red Bull to break this season. Besides the genius of Adrian Newey and Max Verstappen, the Austrian team really owes it to the spectacular car. Now, the question remains if Red Bull can replicate their domination next season as well.
